Quilts quilts everywhere....I have A BUNCH of them with a few comforters in the mix. I have so many that I asked DH to put up 2 steel racks for me so that I can finally hang them all up and SEE what I have. We have a third floor to our home, an attic to some of you but our 3rd flr is huge, cleaned up, painted years ago and very liveable but is more a storage room in very neat & orderly fashion.
So I have 7 quilts hanging in an enclosed 'closet' if you will, I'll leave them there. On Monday I sorted everything out - bags full of accent pillows for bedrooms & living room. So far I've hung 16 quilts/comforters/accent blankets for my twin sgl and dbl beds. DH still needs to install the other rack for me so I can hang the queen/king sized bedding. It actually was so fun to go through what I've hung up so far - quilts I haven't seen in years.
I had them all stashed in a corner of the room, bundled neatly but everytime I want to change out the rooms per season There are/were always some I never dug through and was always a hassle. Now, I can see all of them! So excited, should have done this years ago.
The quilt that Carolyn had on with the gentleman in the 9AM show this morning and in the "top finds" today is another stunning very colorful quilt. If I didn't have SO many already, I'd for sure be adding that one to my collection. I LOVE beautiful bedding and as I said I have tons. I've weeded out a few that I'd like to give to my local YWCA. I'll call them to see if they'd like to have them for the women who reside there.

@PINKdogWOOD - I love quilts and I would love to see your collection. It's funny you posted this today. This weekend I'm participating in my nephew's garage sale and I'm going to sell 5 or 6 quilts. I collected most of them back when QVC sold them. I'm keeping a few of my favorites. I'm retiring next Jan and I am trying to downsize everything. I'm also jealous you have such a nice storage area for things.

@DecorDiva Our space upstairs is really nice, we have seating area there too, and yes I have 2 very large racks for off-season clothing of mine. In this very old house the closets are at a premium at least for me!!!
And yeah, I must blame the Q for getting me started with my fetish of bedding. MANY of them are from here when the Q had regular quilt shows. Of course I do find get bedding at great prices too in many online & B&M shops. Mine are all very colorful, the focal point in my three bedrooms.

I have found that I certainly like using quilts on my beds. But I'm not in the old school of displaying them. I only use them to cover my beds. Mine were very difficult to find because about 99% are horribly ugly old patterns in my opinion. I found only 2 that sport the beachy theme of my cottage. I'm now on the hunt for one in my carriage house. I've been searching for 2 years, hopefully I'll find a cute pattern that is more on the modern style rather than something my Grandmother would have owned/made.

It was nice reading about your quilts! I was going to ask if you made any.
My Mom made a beauty, but since she went into the NH, I generously gave it to my DD, who was there with her as she was making it, knowing all the patterns, and appreciating the craftsmanship.
I have one quilt that I bought, I think from Hess's Department Store (which some east coasters may remember), which I use for guests. But I do love them!
I've always wanted a puff quilt to make myself, and just recently got all the tools & fabrics to make it. I'm not doing any actual quilting, as this is a puff quilt.
So nice that now you can really enjoy them!

When Zulily has a quilt event, I've seen some very nice, modern patterns. I can't speak to the quality because I've never bought one.

I also love quilts. I've had one for every season on my bed for many years. I also use them on my couch in the kitchen as a cover, on the end of the beds for a throw, I have even heard of using them for a tablecloth. I remember grandma having her quilting frame up making quilts. They don't make them like that anymore.

@PINKdogWOOD, I love good bedding as well. I really need to do a serious cull of my linen closet ... more to dispose of sheets than anything. I am a quilter so I appreciate good quality bedding. It's great that you have a space to keep your treasures and have easy access. It makes it so much easier to do a change up of your linens. LM

@Lilysmom As I smile, why am I not surprised to know you do quilting? My paternal G'Mom was a fabulous quilter of all kinds, cross stitch and appliques. I'd never known her to not be working on something stunning for someone.
She had 5 grand daughters. Over some time she made each of us a very special one of a kind applique twin sized. Mine was of autumn leaves in reds, yellows, and greens. I was especially blessed with another one she made just for me because I begged and pleaded with her to do a duplicate she made for a customer. I was a beautiful floral, each flower had 15-20 pieces of fabric. It was intense and time consuming but she knew I LOVED it so. I literally wore out both of them over many years.
