I wasn't going to post because I didn't think I could without shedding tears - my Jerry cat died this morning. I was up all night with him and I don't think I can go through this 13 more times. I have 8 cats left and 5 dogs. I am sort of numb. ...... Visitors can't believe I have 9 cats because there is no lingering order - unless someone just took a big you know what! Gail

gailchap, I am so sorry for the loss of your dear cat, Jerry. My thoughts are with you.

Re: Quest for better cat litter

Almost a year ago I tried the Precious Cat brand. I was searching for a low to no dust clumping litter for my cat that has respiratory issues, and I stumbled upon this brand. I have only bought the Respiratory Relief version of this brand, but I'm sure the other versions are good as well. I love that there is no cloud of dust when filling the box with fresh litter and no heavy perfume scent. Also, I don't sneeze when cleaning/scooping, and no more sneezing for my cat when he does his business.

My furry buddy passed away about 15 months ago, so I no longer have a kitty around. However, over the years I've had several cats & tried several different kinds of litter. The one we liked best, my last buddy & I, was Feline Pine. No dust & environment-friendly.

The cat lovers I know all use Feline Pine.

Re: Quest for better cat litter

I use petco crystal litter. It is $60 for 60 pounds and I usually use 60 pounds in 3 months for 3 cats/2 boxes. Which comes to about $20 a month in litter for me. I'm curious how much others spend on litter?

Re: Quest for better cat litter

Thank you all for your sympathy. Today was better.

I'm going to try the Feline Pine. Everyone keeps bragging on it.

I spend about $30 a month on Tidy Cat. I get the 14 pound container which usually costs

$7.50 at Big Lots or PetSmart (on sale).

Re: Quest for better cat litter

I have 3 fussy cats. I have 3 covered litter boxes and one uncovered box all with Feline Pine in them, and one uncovered box with crystal-type litter (brand depends where I happen to buy it, there are several similar).

It started as an experiment to see which kind they liked better, but I've had to stick with both. My oldest cat prefers to do one thing in each type of litter. I've actually seen him go in one box and then the other.

I have a herd of kitties (8!) and, for years, have only used the clevercat top opening litter box. Three of my kitties are gigantic males and they greatly prefer this litter box.

Re: Quest for better cat litter

What a lot of great comments & suggestions.

Have decided to try a top opening box & some Feline Pine. If the FB's go for it I will check out the farm supplied store.

Thanks all!!

Re: Quest for better cat litter

Ive been using Worlds Best for many years. NO ONE EVER walks into my house & knows I have cats. In fact everyone says my house always smells so good!

I can't stand ANY cat odor. I've tried different litters over the years & have been absolutely appalled by them (but that doesn't include Feline Pine- haven't tried that). The clay litters are gross....dust, and barnyard smell immediately. That is the cat odor I've been avoiding!

Recently, I had a bad batch of Worlds Best. It didn't perform well, so I called the company. They are THE NICEST! Excellent CS, and they have been working with me about the issue (old-school customer service, love it!) I'll stick with this brand...cats like it, & no smell. Its pricey for sure, but at least my house doesn't smell like a 4-H project!

Re: Quest for better cat litter

I got tired of watching my cats pick litter out from between their toes. They would do thus on the sofa and my bed. I also had a little boy cat die from crystals a couple of years ago. I have 5 cats and now use the breeze system which has piddle pads inside. I change the pads every 2-3 days. I read some reviews which said there is an odor, but I have found none. We have 3 boxes in the house. They use them, no litter between their toes and no litter in my bed! Cost is less then what I was spending on kitty litter.
