Re: QVC Christmas in July 2014

I enjoy it a lot, but, please, QVC - don't drag out products from last year and the year before that and the year before that. Let's see some NEW merchandise.

NO bashing from me! I'd give you a pat on the back though, for being brave enough to bring it up! I was considering a post, but didn't want to start a war!

I have always loved CIJ. We garden do fruit trees, lots of berries of various kinds, etc. Have a large area to mow (5 acres) and by late July, I'm tired, hot and ready to enjoy a weekend of Hallmark movies and a weekend of Q's CIJ. It is a nice break in the heat of summer. I only regret that the offerings are getting cheaper and tackier all the time. They used to have some of the greatest things back when Radko, Pacconi, and Boyd's were all still part of the Q family. Even the Mr Christmas line was of better quality a number of years ago. I still enjoy, and buy almost nothing ('cept maybe some Temp-tations holiday) as I'm trying to downsize my holiday decor as well, but have fun watching anyway.

Re: QVC Christmas in July 2014

I was just talking to a friend about it this past weekend. I'm so glad I wasn't the only one to think about it. You are all right in saying how fast this year is going so it will definitely be upon us before we know it. Looking forward to all the great decorating threads that go on around here. It will be fun to see what pics everyone posts this year.

Re: QVC Christmas in July 2014

I love watching Christmas In July. I look forward to it every year. I have been out of work for 6 years and just started working again this past January so now I won't be home to watch it during the day unless it is exclusively on the weekends, but I am not complaining, would much rather have the job. I rarely buy, I have so much Christmas stuff, don't use half of it anymore, it is just so much work now that I am getting older and now that I am working, will probably be putting even less out, but I love to watch the shows and dream. I love Christmas.

I haven't yet recovered from the trauma of last year's five month Christmas extravaganza filled with garish useless junk. It's the most dreaded time of the year, and once it starts, there's no end to it.

CIJ is when I pick up whatever decorative pieces I want, and then later in the year I start buying my gifts. Helps with the budget to divide it up. I love CIJ and always look forward to it. This year I will only be window shopping. I have a Jim Shore Christmas piece that arrives next month, but otherwise I really think my willpower will be kicking in.

Hi Yellowrose. I also have Jim Shore piece(s) coming next month from his new Christmas collection. Four to be exact!! I agree that willpower will have to be in place after that bill comes around!!

Re: QVC Christmas in July 2014

I love Christmas in July also. I won't have a lot of things in my "to pay for" list when it comes because I only have one thing I've ordered from QVC, and don't plan to order any more until CIJ. Especially anxious to see what Valerie has to offer this year. It's always fun for me!

I agree with those who have said that they like the July event, but hate the days leading up to Christmas, because I agree that they are offering left overs and the same old stuff during the later December shows.

No please no, it is just getting warm now after the worst winter ever. I just don't even want to think about the next winter

Today we had the hottest day of the year and although it's hot and sticky, it's not snowing. The cold weather stuck around to long for sure.

2 months of the sticky, hot weather and I will be ready. Today the sun felt great.

Hope the Q brings back some of the retro stuff like David's memories of a few years back. Valerie will be on with her live wreaths pre-orders. Hope there's a tree as the special of the day one of the 2 days. I'm looking for a tree this year. If Valerie brings back the iron chandelier with the glass tea light holders, one of those will be mine. Can't wait to see what Jill brings from Byers Choice and love the toys she picks for the kids. Maybe a cabbage patch Christmas set? Cross your fingers for me. I have a baby girl shower to go to in August.

For the past several years, I turn the ac so it's cold in the house. I set the table with my Christmas dishes (temptation snowflake pieces and snowman). I cook a turkey breast with all the fixings, bake some homemade cookies, make hot chocolate and turn on the Q. CIJ has become an event at my house. In July, CIJ- bring it on!
