Re: Price of master suite addition?

We added a new master suite in 2006 and the cost back then was apx. $60,000. Our bedroom is 16 x 16 which is a nice size for us. We added a gas fireplace to the room and use it often. We remodeled our connecting old bedroom into a master bath, walk-in closet (love it!) and two linen closets. We added a "handicap" commode and a higher vanity to the bath so you might want to consider that. Our hallways in the new suite are also wider to accommodate a wheelchair should the need arise. One more thing, our bedroom has an entrance to the outdoor patio via a French door and we love that feature.

Re: Price of master suite addition?

Thanks for that info AnikaBrodie. Sounds about the size bedroom that we would want too but also a bathroom and mud room so I'm thinking more than $60,000. Yikes! We would also make it accessible for old age. This is why it is hard to decide because if it starts getting towards 80-$100,000 then maybe moving makes more sense. So hard to decide as there are pros and cons for both.

Re: Price of master suite addition?

I think it's hard to compare prices because that varies so much by location and how much work is needed on your existing space to change or add to it. Anytime you are enlarging the existing footprint of your house, it is going to cost a lot more than if you are remodeling existing space under the existing roofline. We are in the process of adding new flooring and a new master bath to our downstairs....the upstairs will be later....hopefully we can sell the house before we have to sink more $$ into it....but first we have to find a place to move.
