Interesting to read about ottomans being used for extra seating.  I’m currently in the process of decorating my small apartment living room.  I decided on an ottoman/coffee table instead of a coffee table because I was more interested in a place where I could put my feet up and relax.  I never eat or drink in the living room so I would have no need for a coffee table.  In my case it has nothing to do with extra seating.  It’s all about comfort and relaxation. 

On another note, I love the colors in this room – very soothing.
