Re: Plans for entertaining/gathering now that

@Mominohio

This is a very interesting topic as I'm vaccinated (for spouse on suggestion from his pulmonary specialist) and he can't get it due to health reasons.

Which brings me to a "crossroads" in my life.  I have not traveled, gone many places and my "free spirit" attitude has virtually "disappeared" -- not sure why but I'm hesitant to do normal things (it's pretty crazy I've discussed with my doctor obviously many are feeling the same😮).

As for entertaining I just don't have the "excitement" of wanting to do gatherings, prep & more.  I've enjoyed having my 4 card friends 1x/month on my turn and it's perfect.

As for family I miss the everyday moments I enjoyed when I travelled home every 6-8 weeks but now I'm satisfied with seeing them on Skype everyday.  I am supposed to go home for 2 weeks for gd 8th bday but even this I'm not sure.

I know I've changed a lot and finding that "right time" to go back to my life as I knew it maybe harder than I thought.

@homedecor1 ,

I so understand what you are saying and have had many of the same thoughts, some out of fear or uncertainty, others just out of lack of

energy or that free spirit get up and do it attitude.

Thank you for your comment because I've travelled  alone, have been a very social person my whole life and never missed a opportunity to entertain or be with those I love no matter what the "obstacles"...but more importantly, at the sight of a great airline flight/vacation deal I'd say "honey I'm going away you need to drop me off at airport but not sure when I'm coming back".

Yup that feeling is gone -- sometimes just going to the grocery store is a "chore"...lol

Glad someone else understands ...tomorrow I'll be driving over to my cousins house a few hours away to "celebrate Christmas" before she leaves to return home.  I am looking forward to it🙂🙂

Re: Plans for entertaining/gathering now that

We've never stopped having family over! We had a private family baby shower last spring for my first grandchild. We had family here for Thanksgiving and a big bash for Christmas! We were all well....why not? We are going downstate for a big family Easter dinner on Sunday! I feel sorry for those who live their only life in fear.

Although we have been going to stores and restaurants (safely) throughout this ordeal, we have not had a family gathering at our home or our family's homes since December of 2019.  My husband and I are usually the ones to host many of the major holidays in our family (Christmas, Easter, Mother's Day, 4th of July).  We have two young daughters and the fact that we host family gatherings so often has always been what they have looked forward to most.  It has been very difficult on them for over a year now because they haven't been able to spend any true quality time with other family members.  My husband and I have been able to  keep their spirits up in other special ways, but it wasn't the same without our family members.

With the exception of my children, all of our family members are now fully vaccinated.  We have decided to start getting together again in small groups, since the CDC is saying it is okay.  I am having my husband's family here tomorrow for my younger daughter's birthday.  It will be 6 adults and 2 toddlers and my girls.  All vaccinated.

I am seeing my parents on Easter for Brunch at their house on Sunday. All vaccinated.

I am hosting Mother's Day with both sides of our family.  That will be the first time we are all getting together in over a year and we will all be fully vaccinated.

We also plan on hosting 4th of July this year with some extended family members who have received their vaccinations.  We usually have about 75 people here for the holiday, but we are not doing that this year.  We are keeping it to only family members who have been vaccinated.  It will probably be around 25 of us and we will be outdoors the majority of the time.

I understand being cautious, even with vaccinations.  However, I feel confident that my family and I can now start to safely see one another since we have all been vaccinated.  Why bother getting vaccinated if we can't start at least having some kind of "normalcy" in our lives?

I don't think a person is right or wrong for their decision.  Everyone has their own level of comfort right now and it must be respected.  We all must do what we feel is best for ourselves and our family members.

My first and second doses of the vaccine are scheduled. After that, I'll cautiously return to normal. Seeing how colds and flu transmissions have been helped through masking, I anticipate wearing a mask for quite some time. The mask requirements have been lifted in our state, but we will follow county and city requirements which can be stricter.

@ID2 , Not all of us have been as fortunate as you and have lost loved ones and friends - so that is why we "live life in fear" and also why we're not having a "big bash".

NO, sorry, but will not be gathering in any groups for a while yet---just think we are heading  for another horrible surge, even as we all get shots.
