Has anyone ever made a pillow from a Quacker (or any other) tee shirt?

I have an old Quacker tee with an embroidered bicycle at the hem.  Mostly embroidery, hardly any bling.

It's a bit big for me now and also shrunk in length so not as flattering to wear.

I think it'll make a nice pillow cover.  It's this one, in gray.  "botanical bicycle" A231297

What a great idea!  I would hate to just *get rid of* that pretty bike.  Now you can enjoy it for a few more miles.

Would you be sewing by hand or using a machine?

Please post a pic, after you make it.

A machine, I'm pretty sure.  Now that I've decided what to do with it, I know it will stay with me for those "few more miles."  The embroidery is really very nice on the shirt.  Thanks!

Don't hold your breath for the pic of a finished product.  If I know me, it'll take a while, @Lucky Charm.

Re: Pillow from old Quacker tee

You might be able to take the easy way out and cut, fold and hand sew the fabric around a pillow form....if sewing is not your thing.  Otherwise I am sure you can find lots of patterns on line....it will make a cute pillow!!

I have an old cewel embroidery piece that is framed...not my style, but my mom made it when it was popular many years ago.  I do not have the heart to get rid of it so I am thinking of making a pillow out of it as well, maybe two sided so that one side is appropriate for my living room.

Re: Pillow from old Quacker tee

I've sewn all my life, @Mom2Dogs

I even made an evening gown once upon a time (for my teenage self).

Long, aqua raw silk with a lace bolero.

I'd often make Easter outfits for my sisters, as I was the oldest.

And later for my daughter.

I remember my first sewing lesson.  I made a gathered skirt of pale green with a black pattern and my teacher said it would need a zipper.  I bought a black one and she lost her cool!

Sounds like you sew, too.

Re: Pillow from old Quacker tee

I have not, but I think that's a fantastic idea!

In the 80s, I had a denim jacket with Winnie the Pooh and friends embroidered on the back. I wore it until it was was falling apart and then I cut off the embroidered section and made a pillow out of that.
