@faeriemoon I like asymmetrical or offset placement and in this room it works.  The negative space around the painting because of how and where it is hung works and engages the onlooker in focusing on it far more than if it had been hung in the usual manner.

I like symmetry but I think it often becomes tired because it has been used so much.

There is no sense of balance to that wall. Overall, I don't like anything about the room!

@aroc3435  Agree!!  Negative space itself can be a feature, a focal point, or a way to direct the viewer's attention to something else.  Generally, I love to work with negative space in the form of empty picture frames, off center items, grillwork, etc.

I say I don't like anything about this room either.  The picture placement to me is just very odd.  Hate this type of contemporary furniture.  Looks like a man did this.

I prefer things to look more centered and balanced

I think I could handle it if the picture was lower.  The way it is, I do not like it.

I prefer it centered but I love the coffee table.

That wall is awful busy looking.  I don't get the picture on the right side?

It would look much better on a plain color wall & either a rectangular picture or maybe a set of pictures.

I do not care for the room, it is drab.  I don't mind the placement of the picture as much as the picture itself.  This room needs to be perked up with some color.
