Re: Pattern Overload!!

[ Edited ]

I like this style room.  I like the wall paper and feel that the art on the wall blends in very well. I would take the floral curtains off the windows and replace them with neutral light weight semi sheer curtains. I would keep the window pane curtains over the bed and do away with the flower curtains there, too. Outside of that I would keep it as it is.

As my sweet mother used to say: "A little goes a long way!" This is pattern overload to the max!

It doesn't clash, but there is way too much of the pattern of the drapes, bed skirt and wallpaper.

Either get rid of the drapes or the wallpaper and replace with a solid, color. That room must have cost a fortune to decorate that way.  It had to be custom.

That's  what I was thinking too, that it cost a fortune to decorate.  Kind of sad to think someone spent so much money on that room, but...beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess!  I'm sure the owner loved it!  Woman Tongue

I'm looking at the room ... and the first thought that comes to mind ...

I'm would not want to dust that room!

I don't care for that style decorating!

I really like colonial look of the room.  However.............I would get rid of the wallpaper and the material behind the bed.  The headboard is lovely enough.  I would match the chest with the chairs.  Don't care for the painting subject over the fireplace.  Would change that

Love the fireplace, side tables, bedding and dust ruffle that matches the drapes.

I don’t care for these prints and pattern even if they were scaled back to just a few pillows on the bed. Just not my style. The fireplace & windows are nice. I kind of like the colonial bedside table.  The rest of the furnishings & accessories don’t appeal to me.

This style, of repeating/coordinating wall paper, drapes, bedding and upholstery in patterns and florals was big back in the 80's and early 90's. I recall being in love with the look.

Today, it gives me a headache.

I agree that all elements are pleasing to me in some way, there is just way too much print all packed in to one space.

It reminds me how far I've moved on what I like. I'm into much less print in fabric in the home these days. Times change, and I guess, very slowly, I did too! LOL
