I have been thinking about painting my front door for three years now. It's white. I have painted it so many colors in my mind! Seems like I am paralyzed about making a decision.
So I turned to Pinterest for support, lol. Brii you might try looking at P; put in your house color and door color & see what pops up. I don't plan on painting my garage doors; they wil stay white.
My house is cedar in the front, painted gray with white trim. Here's my latest fave:

Whitelinen, go for it. It's only paint. LOL
I have a few samples and I need to decide what looks best. Polaris Blue is in the running too.

It peels, especially if you have extreme temps (very hot, very cold weather). So, we just painted our side garage entry door to match the stucco and left the garage door alone.
I think that your dark blue or green front door idea is great. I think that would be very pretty with your brick/brown/tan color scheme.
we have a metal garage door and i have painted ours twice and it has never peeled! it lasted over 6 years with one coat of paint the first time! i could not stand that boring white door that looked like everyone else's so when we had the house repainted a few weeks ago i did it again to match the house color and i love it. and here we have extreme temps every single year but it was never a problem!

that sounds like a beautiful color!!!
my front door and garage door have never matched either BUT i do like my door and shutters to match. i have seen houses that do not and it does work - just not for me!
as soon as this bad weather moves on through here i will be painting our front door and shutters - just need to narrow down my colors!
