When we built this house about 5 years ago, I was horrified by the prices they wanted to paint.  So we did it ourselves.

Painters are usually meticulous it seems, but my husband is just as good.  And he's free!

As a rule, I don't mind doing the rolling, including the ceilings.  He does cutting in and can do it free hand.  I can't and would use one of those edgers which sometimes it's so obvious when someone uses one.

My friend is having her entire home (only 2 years old!) repainted and I know she's paying big money.  This guy is so good.  Her husband was telling us today that the moldings almost look like glass.  I have no idea what he means, but it's sounds neat.  Their home is uber modern.

I don't enjoy rolling the paint on walls.  I do, however like doing the trim and cutting in.  I can do it without taping too.  I hate taping.  I'm also an expert caulker.

I would like to paint the master bedroom, but there's all that heavy furniture that needs to be moved.  We have a Bob Timberlake King Size bedroom Suite.  If you're familiar with the brand, you know it's not light.

I like to paint.  The prep takes the longest.  But find good podcasts to listen to and the job goes much faster!

Sometimes a Bud Light or three helps, too!

I've finally finished, except for touch up and some cleaning. It's too hard to use a drop cloth in a small space while you're already working around the commode and the shower. It just gets all bunched up and I find it frustrating.  (This is a small bathroom).

Golly I hated dropping that step ladder in the shower surround.  I put down a pile of sheets so that I wouldn't make an impact crack with the weight distribution.

New shower curtain just went up.  I think I'll order new fixture and register covers.

Next up is the master bath.  One of those 80's things (yuck) where the sink is in an alcove with no formal door, by the bedroom, and then the WC and shower are in a room off that.  Ventilation is poor so I'll have much drywall repair to do.

Onward and upward!
