@Mom2Dogs , whatever you do, make sure it is not slippery.  I think you have four seasons so be careful.

I have seen some lovely stamped concrete  jobs.  Love that look and easy care!  LM

@Mom2Dogs , I think once you add some colour and texture, it will be a more inviting space.  Maybe a bench and large planter.

I have a friend who did stamped concrete in her backyard...a patio and a sepa, rate fire pit.  It was lovely and made the backyard.  LM

I have the same situation but on a smaller scale. I purchased a trio of Veranda indoor/outdoor rugs for ours. I have one area for the front door entrance with planters flanking the entry. I have another for a seating area. and a third that is a smaller seating area with a planter and a few hanging feeders.  It no longer looks like a slab but more like a porch. The seperated areas really breaks up the "runway" look.

@Fressa  I was thinking the same thing. I use carpet on my patio to section off the different areas, eating and seating area. I feel the carpet brings some of the inside outside.

Perhaps concrete stain. Nothing too dark.

A nice color wash that takes away the blah look of concrete.

But, my focus would be on the front doorway!!

A nice freshly painted door with updated and heavy hardware.

An appropriately sized heavy outdoor mat in a nice complimentary color.

Perhaps flanking the door with  something - like two large taller pots and two medium squattier pots. Or, something like that. Does not need to be pots. Just something to call attention to the doorway versus the concrete.

Make that doorway standout!!! 👀 Of course, in a good way!

@CAMOGIRL    The front door has a beautiful color (ha, ha, in my opinion)...there is always something on the door, wreath, etc.  But you are correct...the hardware could be updated, thanks for the reminder.

@Fressa    Good idea, even tho we will never sit on the porch the rugs are a good idea.  The way the wind blows we always have trouble with planters being blown over, will have to think on this a bit, that might be a good option....you are correct about the 'runway' look.
