Deciding on counter tops....definitely going with Wilson Art high def laminate.
Had always thought of going blackish (not solid) but now not sure. I'm going to have black appliances, white cabinets and a medium color plank vinyl floor.
Does anyone have laminate - what design do you have or do you think would look good with white.
Thanks

I have Wilsonart in my home and love it! Worth every $$$
I did the center of the dining room in the Wilsonart squares in a stone pebble pattern. It really sets off the room and incorporates all the colors of the entire room. You might want to consider something like that or a marble type swirl to pull in all of your colors. I've seen pictures where they did the opposite and used a solid color to set off all of the neutrals. That looked striking as well. Depending on the size of your room and if you don't like colors or patterns then I always favor white. Unless you have a ton of light coming into your room and you choose another dark color with your neutral scheme it could make your room look too small and dark.
If you are still undecided then my tie breaker is always about how much time am I going to be in this room. At that point, I opt for what I personally like and forget about stressing and second guessing over the decision. I always over think these decisions way too much. Choose what ever you had pictured it to look like when it was done and I don't think you can go wrong.
Good luck.

Is it the river gemstone you have? I went and look at a friend's counter the other night and that is what she has with white cabinets. I LOVED it but feel funny getting the same thing. But I just can't seem to find anything else I like. She isn't a close friend and I really don't think we have mutual friends that would ever be in my kitchen.
Would you be mad if someone came to look at yours and then you copied?

I have wilsonart counters in a design that looks like beige marble. It is called jeweled ivory. The designers who work for my builder chose it - not me. I thought the easiest way to go was to chose one of the design packages they offered and I chose the beige package. Then they tell you what shade of cabinets, tile flooring, carpet, counters and wall paint. I'm glad I let them pick it because I do not have a decorating gene and would have messed it up.
Since you say black appliances I would go with black counters.

Just FYI: I had friends who got a rather plain black counter and they regret it because every crumb and every drop of water shows. If you get a black counter with a pattern, that probably won't be an issue. (They even got a black sink and that thing is a nightmare
)

Hi shop--buy what you love! With black and white and a neutral floor, you have almost unlimited choices to punch up the color, or use an interesting pattern. I wouldn't use black either, not with all the options out there now. If you really were drawn to the counters in your friend's kitchen, go for it! (For one thing, you know they work with white!) Don't feel funny about it--I can't imagine anyone thinking anything of it! My best friend repainted her entire townhouse in the same color as our front hall, after seeing and loving it. Do I care? Not a whit!! I'm happy that she's happy! Just be sure and think about coordinating your counter with your backsplash, if you choose one.

Not at all. If that's what I liked, I'd do it and not worry about it. Or if it would bother you, get it in a similar color.

I just had Wilson Art formica installed in a pantry with a sink, and in the rec room. It looks just like granite. What a change compared to what formica used to be.

We have more interaction than you will have with the other woman, so I don't think you should worry as much.Is it the river gemstone you have?
