We don't replace appliances unless they break like our side by side refrigerator just did.  Replaced it with a freezer on top model which we like a LOT better.

Moved into our home and hated the side by side refrigerator, never had one before.  The owners had  it for about 10 years as it was the original. Husband many times when I complained about the size of freezer and complained that I couldn't  even get a frozen pizza box to fit in, he would say get a new one but like you I'M one that only gets appliances when they finally die . Last year started hearing strange noises was hoping and finally got my wish after having to put up with it for 10 years it finally died. Was so happy went and got my white refrigerator freezer on top. Never took to the stainless steel look and wasn't even interested in the ones with freezer on the bottom, like my kids have.

Guess you can call me old fashioned.

I had the same issues with side by side refrigerators. We  now have a French door refrigerator. I like it because there's plenty of space in the fridge and a bottom freezer. We also have a separate freezer in the garage.
