I love the shade of gold that shows in the pic but that is not always true.  I have the set of three pedestals in gold and they work with Harvest but with Christmas, not so much.  They are just orangey gold.  I won't go with gold if it's too bright either, looks like cheap jewelry.  Lol  Hopefully, we'll be lucky and see the presentation if we can find out when since it isn't brand specific.

I have the set of 2 wide pillars in gold and they are as you describe.  I like them, but I won't try to use them for Christmas.

Here is an image of the s/5 in gold and the s/2 pillars in gold:

This is not necessarily accurate, but I thought it might give us something to think on.

I also have those square pedestals in gold.  I am always afraid to order gold  even if I see it presented because with all the lights there it just makes them look different than they really are.  Anyone else want to weigh in on this?  Please!  I may just be good and not get any of them.  lol

Lucy, I think the pedestals and finials are painted the same gold.  The pedestals appear richer and denser in the color saturation. The finials will probably appear less orangey, because they have a lighter spray of gold paint on them.  You can see right through them, and the color appears to have been applied a little more delicately.

I'm going to have to agree with you, Peter.  Why can't someone make gold decor in an acceptable color and not that brassy or orangey shade.  Like SHOPR, I haven't been able to use Valerie's gold items in Christmas decor because it looks more Harvest, with the exception of her MG spheres.  Thanks for your input, Peter.

Funny enough, I'm actually "color confused."  It's a condition where you can't distinguish similar colors when they are in close proximity, mixed within similar shades, or close on the color spectrum.  If you've ever taken the eye exam where they show you a bunch of different colored polka dots, and you're supposed to be able to see a number written within the dots, I can't pick out the number.   The funny thing is, I can actually see the orange tone in that pedestal.  I've always found QVC's "champagne" colored items more of a true gold, at least in my wonky eyes.

I love the champagne but it isn't offered as much as some of the other colors.  They should offer gold for Harvest and Champagne for other seasons.   We send suggestions but I guess it takes years to change anything.  I haven't heard about the " color confusion", I learned something new today.  I've heard of being color blind but not confusion.  Thanks.

Re: New Finials

[ Edited ]

I'm not familiar with color confusion, either.  But I think Peter is seeing these two golds the same as we are, lucy.

Peter, I don't know if you are aware, but the pedestals shown are made of a much thicker glass than the s/3 pedestals and thicker than I believe both sets of finials will be, plus the pedestals are shown lit with warm white lights.  Those two things might account for some differences we see between the two, but like you said, they do appear to be the same gold, unfortunately.

Champagne showed up in both types of pedestals, and it looked really good, but it came too late for me, because I already owned all I ever planned on owning in gold, silver, and brown.  Since they (in champagne) are all sold out, we won't have a chance to see them on any set when the new finials are presented.  Too bad.

Which brings up another idea--wait until next year and they'll offer champagne!!!

Been gone all day, and come home to find this! More finials! I'm going to have nightmares! I think it would be easier to choose a Republican presidential canditate right now (among the more than a dozen in the ring right now!) than choose which finials!

I, too, am frustrated with MG colors in general (not just gold). I guess I wouldn't care what shade it is, just that it all matches. I have had the same problem with the oranges and browns in some of the fall MG items over the years. Just wish they'd get  one manufacturer that would keep the colors the same throughout the different products.
