Would you use neon signs & lights in your home?

I usually think of neon as looking more appropriate in bars, restaurants, and stores. I might consider a neon sign if I had a bar area or home theater in my basement, but I wouldn’t want one upstairs or in any other room.

Here are a few examples of people who have neon lights in their homes. I don’t really care for any of them.

Maybe it could be displayed in a bedding store, but I wouldn’t want it above my head.

The skyline sign is ok and would look fine in a NYC souvenir shop or restaurant, but I still wouldn’t want it in my home.

My apologies to this couple, but I think this looks tacky.

Looks a little disco to me.

If I had a game room I wouldn't mind having a neon light.

@JYWilliams

Yes, I agree that a neon sign would work in a game room.

I think they would be cool in a basement family room or bar or even a man cave but that's about it.

DD had her name in neon in her bedroom wall when she was a teen.  Her friends thought it was so cool and she loved it.

As some other posters said, maybe a rec room, man cave, etc, but not in the main living area.

I have a free-standing Christmas tree made out of neon light tubing that I bought in the early 1990's. It has a yellow star at the top and different colors of neon light tubing ornaments. It's only 3 1/2 - 4 feet tall. It was an expensive piece of art that I haven't used since that time. My first career was as a home decor Buyer and Product Developer with degrees in Art and Design, so my taste has been eclectic and appreciative of many styles.
