@Sweetbay magnolia   You have my sympathy.

I am afraid that rooster would end up being the base of a pot of chicken noodle soup.  I absolutely hate the sound of a rooster crowing.

We spent a week in Greece in a beautiful B&B.  A rooster could be heard crowing all day long from our room and throughout the neighborhood.

I couldn't wait for that week to be up and go home.

We live in the city limits were chickens are allowed but not roosters.  A neighbor behind us had a rooster that crowed starting about 4:30 am and off and on all day.  We called the animal control officer and about 2 weeks later the rooster was gone.

We thought that was the end of it, but several months later they got another rooster.  Same thing...early morning crowing and all day.  So we called animal control again and several weeks later, no rooster!

There is a $200 fine for keeping a rooster in the city limits and I'm wondering if the neighbor had to pay it or just keeps getting warnings.

I can't believe he got a second rooster after he was made to get rid of the first one.

Man plans. God laughs.

@Sweetbay magnolia ,

You have my sympathy.  One of my neighbors had a flock of guinea hens and boy, were they noisy.  Those birds are as big as turkeys and made quite the racket.

An estimated 700,000 people around the world, 400,000 of them children, have died so far due to the discontinuation of the USAID program.

@River Song ack, guineas are horrible!  They are pretty and they're good grubbers, but to me they sound like a rusty pump.

We had to call a few times before they confiscated the rooster that was illegally kept somewhere behind and down the hill from us.

It was driving us crazy after we retired.  Before we weren't home much--and the same idiots had a PEACOCK, which sounded like a woman being murdered.

Anyhow, call until they get rid of it.  My advice.

Also, chickens should never be allowed in a city.  They cause every dog in miles to bark, attract predators, are  nasty and noisy and very dirty, and will ruin any yard they are kept in.

Absolutely, @Sooner .

One of my neighbors' yard is a disgusting mess and even the trash service began to refuse their refuse.

The kids all run around barefoot and they have a swimming pool.  Just gross.

Hear ya. I had a neighbor who had a rooster who crowed several times a day. He did not limit his crowing to the am.  The rooster used to raom around in other people's yards , even mine.  One of the other neighbors has dogs  in a fenced yard. Well, I don't hear that rooster anymore . I do not know  for sure but took a guess that the rooster wandered into the wrong yard.

Well, yes, @skatting44 .  My German Shepherd might not take well to a roaming chicken.  He's already on alert to chase away the (dare I say it) feral cats.

@Sweetbay magnolia  Do you have to provide your name and the rooster owner will know it was you who complained?  Are you afraid they'll retaliate against you?
