You have given me a lot to think about and I won't jump in with both feet and make any mistakes thanks to each and everyone of you and your comments.

@Lindsays Grandma I do understand the appeal of both. I will tell you that I'm fully tired of dealing with bed skirts and on the hunt for a pretty bedspread so I can ditch the skirt for a break. That said, I change out often and so find it nice to have a wardrobe of quilts. I do have several comforters, but they do tend to offer a bit more insulation than I normally want. I know that even if I find a bedspread to my liking, I'll eventually return to using a skirt with my quilts and even occasionally, comforters. Variety is good! Good luck to you in finding new bed coverings.

Consider a quilt. A king comforter will be bulky and drag on the floor at the foot end of the bed. I once tripped on oversized bedding.

I no longer purchase comforters, too bulky. I use bedspreads and quilts now. I change them out with the seasons as well as the curtains and throw pillows

@Lindsays Grandma wrote:This is my dilemma,my bed is a full/queen and I currently have a bedspread, shams and matching skirt. I have decided to get rid of all of it and purchase a comforter which I have never had. If I purchase a full/queen comforter it won't cover the bottom of the bed. A king size will do the trick, however my daughter said it will be too big.
Now according to the dimensions shown for a king sized one, and after measuring the bed I think it will work just fine. Never having had a comforter as I mentioned I want to be sure before I start removing and replacing things. Any and all recommendations will be appreciated.
Comforters are not bedspreads. They are not supposed to reach the floor. If you want to cover the bottom of the bed, you would get a skirt. The sizes for comforters are standard and I bought the appropriate size for my bed, and would recommend that. Apologies if this is redundant, I did not read the other responses.

I have a Queen bed. I do use a bedskirt, but buy King size Comforters or Coverlets (currently using a coverlet). I also have a mattress topper that's about 3 or 4". I like the longer drape on the sides and at the foot of the bed. Everyone likes different things though.
