For those of you who think these look like junk....have you've seen them in person? I doubt it. I like quality items, don't like clutter, don't care for girly or cutesy things inside my home, & I adore the spheres. I own 3 colors, & I leave the amber out year-round on my fireplace (I place them on top of pottery vases- looks gorgeous). I know present day mercury glass isn't the same quality as it was, but I'm still loving these. They're magical, warm, & inviting.

I'm happy with the new set of 3 size....very easy to decorate with. I never put mine outside, so I'm not sure how or if they survive the elements. I say keep them coming!

I certainly hope you are not speaking to me. I have the 3 different size spheres. And yes they are poor quality. For those that do not know there are gouges and nicks on the outside (not the places the light is supposed to shine through) and these show the light and are rough to the touch. I just put them out for Easter. This is the first I have used them so they are not old used items.

Don't assume that someone that doesn't care for the quality of something doesn't have it. I just like a higher quality product.

I bought a set of the 3 different size spheres at Christmas time. My are not scratched, gouged or rought. The don't eat batteries either. I've had mine out on timer since right after Thanksgiving and am only on my second set of batteries, and they are alkalines that I recharged in my charger station. I will probably put fresh batteries in when these go dark this time.

I agree. I have a set of 3 that I've had for several months (even before Christmas). There is a tiny defect on the small one but it isn't noticeable, even with the light on, unless you put your face right on it and look very very closely. I also agree, they do not eat batteries if you use the timer and, like you, I just recharge them So far I am still on the first set of batteries. I don't have a lot of stuff around my house but I like these, they look nice in a group on my table, and I've gotten a lot of compliments on them.
I wouldn't put them outside and I wouldn't add to them, but I think it was a good buy and a quality product.

I do think QVC takes one idea and runs it into the ground....the mercury glass is not real mercury glass....it is spattered on the inside of the item to give a mercury glass look.....I think VPH's things look fine on TV but I have seen several of her things for sale at Cracker Barrel under different labels but up close the quality was pretty average for what you see in mass-produced imported home décor items. I have not bought any of her mercury glass myself. Guess she goes to the same shipping dock as so many other ""designers"" to select items for her shows.

You know, Valerie seems to be a lightening rod for nasty commentary.

The thing I like most about her is the fact she brings her wonderful designs to us along with her home decor line. I don't like every single vignette but some of them are great and it's such fun for me to try to recreate her look. This forum is a great place for those of us who find home decorating a fun & relaxing hobby.

She seems like a very sweet person; her Facebook posts support this. Looks like she has a beautiful home and family. I'm sure she doesn't let the criticisms affect her.

Valerie's shows are usually enjoyable, probably because home decor gets so little attention from QVC and because the sets are often dressed so nicely. That said, I too have seen items she sells on QVC sold elsewhere under different names, which would seem to support the notion that at least some of this stuff in not of her 'design' but that some items are obtained by either her or QVC from another source.

As for the endless mercury glass orbs, not saying they don't have a certain appeal, but again, QVC really needs to diversify their products. Every time Valerie has a TSV it's some incarnation of mercury glass, ottomans or orbs.

Too each his/her own. If we all decorated the same, how would we know when we were home.

I have to agree with you. I enjoy watching Valerie to get decorating ideas more so than buying a product each time she visits.

I have VPH things from long ago that are much better quality than much of what is offered today, but I believe that Q is responsible for that. Q is looking at a price point that is low enough to generate lots of sale, rather than a quality product, and a higher price for it.

Valerie answers many of her FB posts, both the negative and the positive, with such grace and kindness, I truly believe she is a very nice person.

As for the mercury glass, I am growing slightly weary of the spheres, as I don't know just how many ways they can offer up doing them any different. I have one lamp, and one set of candlesticks (both gold) and the brown pumpkins. The candlesticks are the only pieces that I can say I am extremely happy with. The others are just nice.

Q is so overloaded with clothing, purses, makeup and beauty products and jewelry that don't interest me in the least, so I love when Valerie comes as it is something different and interesting to watch.
