Re: Mom was right about the sheets.

I dont worry about folding sheets at all.  I dont care if my linen closet looks messy.  Who in the world sees it?

I spend the sheet folding time doing other things.

Re: Mom was right about the sheets.

I would never stop buying/using fitted sheets! Who cares how they look folded in my closet anyway?? Not me. I wouldn't be able to stand the bottom sheet always coming out if it weren't fitted! Nope not for me! Long live fitted sheets! Woman Wink

Re: Mom was right about the sheets.

I have a little bit different take on this.  I have always had fitted sheets. I also was taught how to fold them. However, one night a few years ago I didn't have one available and decided to tuck one of my flat sheets in using the hospital corner method and Voila!.....It worked great!  Now I am considering going to all flat sheets when my fitted wear out. I think the secret is...they have to be oversized so they tuck well under the mattress.

I can get the fitted sheets folded as neatly as the top sheets.

My Mom believed in child labor, I started ironing very early too.  Started with my Dad’s pocket handkerchiefs.  My Aunt taught me to make beds, she was a nurse, still do those hospital corners!  Also, all pillowcases are open toward the room door!

My fitted sheets don't look too bad when folded.  I remember when I had to hospital corner flat sheets on the mattress.  Today's mattresses are too thick and the sheets are not big enough to do that.

i have those folding fabric storage boxes in my linen closet.  I keep my folded sheets in there and my closets always look neat when you open the doors, even if the sheets are not folded perfectly. I am short so the handle in the front makes it easy for me to reach up on the top shelf to remove a box and not have everything fall  down on my head.

I love those boxes and use them everywhere.DA45C210-B2E5-4724-BC87-E956903E2B2E.jpeg

@house_cat.  Fold the fitted sheet as best you can.  There are tutorials on YouTube to demonstrate.  Then take both sheets and one pillowcase and put everything into the other pillowcase.  Everything is then in one neat, tidy package ready for the next use.

@Kachina624. That is exactly what my husband and I do right now, and boy oh boy does it make a difference in how your Linen Closet looks.....Mine is so much neater and much easier to keep tabs on how many sheet sets you actuially have..lol! I was always so envious of my sister's super neat and organized Linen Closet, and I found out that is what she did as well.....It really makes a huge difference!

We recently re-organized our Linen Closet and got rid of things that hadn't been used, and just organized everything so that when you open the door you know exactly where everything is.

@Drythe  I arrange the pillowcases so that the open side is facing the outer side of the bed, so they are basically a mirror image of each other.  Do you face them all the same way?

Re: Mom was right about the sheets.

why is it so hard to fold a fitted sheet?

if fold them them into each other then fold the top sheet and bundle them together

Re: Mom was right about the sheets.

I have a hard time folding fitted sheets too.  So I have one for each bed, and when one is washed, it goes right back on the bed, so I never have to fold.
