Sounds "Way Cool".............I'd go for it (only I wish they made candy apple red appliances!)

They make candy apple gas stoves, and washers and dryers in red, too. Viking and some of the other more expensive brands make the stoves. They're really pretty...a true pop of color in a kitchen.

With a Black refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher, and stove top, the SS is a perfect complement in your kitchen.

Oh thank you! I googled Viking......and there's an appliance store in my area that carries that brand. (I'm in an all-electric neighborhood, tho -- gas not available here.)

My opinion is it'll look like a hodge-podge with several colored appliances. You have a brand new kitchen...right?? Find yourself a black oven so everything looks new and uniform.

ID2….my little red appliances (mixer, blender, toaster) won't be out on the countertop except when in use. All my big appliances are black except for this stove I bought last night….it has a black cook top but the front of it is stainless steel. I'm kinda nervous but think it will be find. There really isn't a whole lot of stainless steel on the front because of the oven window.

Re: Mixing black and ss appliances

Over the years, by default, I have ended up with a mix of black and black/stainless in the kitchen and it seems to work. The sink is stainless. I did change all the knobs to stainless.

Oh yes ! That would be gorgeous. I would buy appliances in that color.

Re: Mixing black and ss appliances

I think it will look great! The one thing that I always spend too much time thinking about are the color of the small appliances that I have on my counter tops. Assuming you have small appliances that remain on your counter tops this gives you two color options. It's one of my pet peeves that no matter if you are purchasing a large or small appliance or a car there are few color choices to choose from once you have selected the brand. My priority is to get the appliance that I want/like and has the features that I need. Somehow, it all does work.

Re: Mixing black and ss appliances

I've been shopping the last week or so with a friend who is looking at new kitchen appliances. We have had two sales clerks at different stores tell us that they have noticed there is a slight drifting away from stainless steel as people are saying it is too hard to keep clean.

My friend is getting all four new and had not decided on what she wanted so the opinions were freely offered. I, too, need to start shopping and will buy one at a time. I want black but worried it might hurt resale value if it wasn't stainless, but have now changed my mind.

I have almond now and everything but the stove is still working just fine. Don't want to spend $$$ to repair the oven so will start with getting a new one of those.
