Re: Mid-Century Modern with a View

[ Edited ]

Have a new neighbor who had all mid-century furniture. The furniture reminds me of her taste. I've never been around it before and am becoming acquainted with it.

This room is spectatular! (I even sort of like the colors in it. But that monster light fixture is a NO for sure.)

What a view.

I'm not a fan of mid-century furniture.

Re: Mid-Century Modern with a View

I get a very "ersatz" or faux, midcentury modern vibe from this room.  Midcentury is a huge genre, like "traditional" or "transitional",  and encompasses everything from kitsch to high design.

This room is off for me for several reasons.  All the embedded ceiling lights, inside-- and outside on the terrace-- give the impersonal feeling of an airport runway.  I don't like the orange of the furniture, but that's a personal preference.  It's the scale of the furniture that's very off as well-- the big chairs as opposed to the more petite sofas, etc.

The coffee table, dreary rug, and toss pillows are also a no.  I could go on!  So, safe to say, I don't find this a successful attempt at midcentury, one that would do justice to a majestic view!

like it but certainly don't love it.  I do like some mid-Century furniture but these pieces aren't doing a whole lot for me.

Nice space but the decor must have been left over from the movie Casino, Oceans  Eleven, or the TV show Vegas.

Looks like a grand hotel lobby. This is a no for me. I do like the expanse of windows showing the background mountains.

Reminds me of the living room in the movie North by Northwest.  I want those chairs...

Love the room size and the view, the furniture-not so much and definitely need a different light fixture! But the room itself and the view-gorgeous!!!!!!!
