Re: I'm not happy with my new mattress either. It was not the...

I am having the same problem.  My new mattress is between soft and firm.  I really don't like it at this point.  I am hoping the longer I sleep on it, the softer it will get.....soon.

I have one of the 3" ones from Costco, but Sams and BJs carry them as well. The cool gel is what you want to keep you from getting hot. I also have a wool topper from CuddleEwe dot com. It is wool, which regulates body temperature. I have fibromyalgia and this has kept me from being stiff when I wake up. I have both of them on an 11 year old mattress (Serta bought locally). The CuddleEwe is called an under quilt. It is wool encased in an organic cotton cover. I rotate and flip it every bedding change, every week or so. I fluff it as well. Other than that, no maintenance required.

A few years ago, DH and I bought a new Stearns & Foster mattress.  It wasn't cheap and we felt we were getting a quailty product.  Almost immediately we were dissatisfied.  It was much firmer at home than the floor model was.  We should have returned it, but didn't.  I bought a mattress topper from QVC and it was little more than a thick mattress pad.  The next thing I bought was the Novaform topper from Costco and it really improved things - we continued to use it until earlier this year when we finally replaced our bed altogether (new headboard, platform, and mattress).  Our mattress was super affordable and it's the best thing we've slept on in years.
