Re: MORE INTIMATE LIVING ROOMS

[ Edited ]

Maybe some of us are seeing what we're predisposed, for whatever reason, to see... I can understand why some might read this as 'deco influenced' but to me, it just isn't... It reads as 'modern', though perhaps with a retro vibe... I don't mind the golden color used, and actually half way like the drapes, but that's about it... The tables, furniture silhouettes and those lamps just don't appeal... As far as it goes, for those discussing the art, I agree the proportions are off, the fireplace art is pretty bad, and I don't think that's even art over the two chairs. It appears to be a wall mounted television that is reflecting the vases from the fireplace mantel...

Re: MORE INTIMATE LIVING ROOMS

IMO the gold color and the size of the room give the room warmth. I'm not fond of the rug; the pattern is too busy and doesn't blend with the simpler elements of the furniture and art work. I'm not seeing any Art Deco in the furniture or accessories. The walls have a still life, a tree?, and a watercolory abstract, and the pillows & lamps have simple shape and color. If the rug were removed, I'd like this room more.

It feels very cold and unwelcoming to me.  No thanks

I like the way they did the fireplace and the coffee table is very attractive. I don't think I could live with the color.

All that's missing is a tall plant on the window (left) side of the fireplace.

Wow, I never thought of that, but that would be the perfect thing to give balance, and finish things off.  Good call, @GingerPeach !

Re: MORE INTIMATE LIVING ROOMS

Looks like furnished through 'early thrift store'.

Not that there is anything wrong with doing so, I'm just guessing it cost waaayyy more than that! LOL

OK, I've looked at this for three days and couldn't figure out why I don't care for it.  I don't care for the style of sofa and rather than using the butterscotch as a main color, it would be better used as accent pieces (throw, pillows, a touch of it in the window treatments, etc.  I also don't care for the artwork.

Re: MORE INTIMATE LIVING ROOMS

I find the room boring and matching the curtains to the sofa has got to go!  Sorry but not my taste.
