Something about this room so appealed to me. It's a collaboration between celebrated architect Steve Giannetti (who renovated this Seventies house), and interior designer Windsor Smith.
I wonder what it was like in its Seventies incarnation? A lot more earth tones, I'd imagine. And if that coffered ceiling is original, I bet that back then it was in medium to dark wood tones...
Looks like Windsor Smith mixed Swedish and French antiques in with comfy seating. Love the slate-y blues, the Venetian style mirror and the playing up of all the natural light. Her eclectic style almost always adds up to an appealing space, to me.
Mandeville Canyon-- wasn't that a hotbed of rockers, movie stars, etc. Joni Mitchell? Oh, no, suddenly thinking -- was the Sharon Tate situation there? Can any Californians or others fill me in? What's it like there now?

A nice space and the decor is attractive, but seems to somehow lack warmth. The Tate murders took place in Benedict Canyon. I believe Mandeville Canyon is an enclave, of sorts, near Brentwood.

Oh, thank you, @stevieb -- Benedict Canyon. What a shame for such a beautiful enclave to have such horrifying associations.... however, much time has passed, and even a horror like that recedes against floods of other associations.....
I keep trying to think how I'm remembering Mandeville Canyon. I think Joan Didion and John Gregory Dunne rented rambling L.A. properties during their long sojourns there, but that's probably not it. It could be Joni Mitchell .
When I'm not so lazy I'll go look it up!

@Oznell I believe the Benedit Canyon house itself was leveled some time ago and a new house was built on the site. One assumes the events were so shocking the house would be a very hard sell and area real estate is pretty clearly prime.

LOVE the white and blue which remind me of clouds in the sky.
I also love the fireplace surround, mantel, and mirror.

I like it, it is open and airy but it is a lot of Blue! Maybe incorporate more green, to offset the blue a bit...

I like the room except for the furniture, plants and huge mirror. Especially like the window seat and ceiling

@Oznell I find this room a wonderful mix of "eclectic". I love the way the shadow boxes match the drapery and walls. It seems to add a bit of a modern touch. I think that the round table behind the sofa and the distressed looking chairs add that needed warmth and coziness. The color of the sofa matching the walls is very pleasant to the eye. I also like seeing a tall plant standing behind the sofa on a table. I have one behind mine and love the look of a pop of color (mine is green) in the middle of my great room. I guess, by now, you can tell, I love this room!
