Last night I posted on Community Chat and realized I should have put it on Home to get more response.
Some of my luminara candles are turning on by themselves in remote control mode. I had them set in July and then in mid-November, they began turning on. Five of them are doing it. They are located in my family room where I have my television. They come on three or four times a month. I am not using any kind of remote when they turn on, but the TV is on and sometimes the DVR is on pause.
Is anyone else experiencing this? What would cause them to turn on?
I love my luminara candles and have no intention of getting rid of them. I am just curious about their apparent independent behavior.

Who ya gonna call---ghost busters!! lol....

well that is interesting...I do know that we have several outdoor lights that turn on automatically when motion is detected (which I know that is NOT how the Luminara candles work) but all of a sudden they would come on and go off for no reason.
We could just not figure out what was wrong so I contacted the company and they told me it was an indication that the batteries were getting low, so we changed the batteries and it has worked just fine since then. You might try changing the batteries in one of the candles and see what happens.

The batteries were the first thing I checked, and they are good. When the batteries are low in my luminara candles, they flicker and then quit.
Funny that you should mention ghosts in this thread...
...Because, the candles worked fine from July until the middle off November, when we brought into the house an antique filing cabinet purchased at the local antique mall. Seriously, we brought it into the house and I walked into the family room and the candle on my coffee table was on. It was off when we left the house to pick up the cabinet. Eeek!
Since then, sporadically, they have been turning themselves on. Now that everyone thinks I am crazy, I really do want to know a reasonable cause.

Try moving them to another room and see what happens....

The candle that turns on the most frequently is on my coffee table. I am going to move that one into the kitchen, away from the TV and see what happens. I am thinking it must be the TV causing them to turn on because the candles in my kitchen and foyer do not turn on by themselves. We will see what happens.
The timing of my luminara "trouble" did make me wonder if we had a bigger issues than malfunctioning candles. LOL

maybe they are just malfunctioning - not sure what the life expectancy is of these or the mirage candles but I have a couple that are barely a year old that just won't work anymore. I am not buying any more $40+ candles becasue I just thnk they don't hold up. I was excited about the upcoming TSV lantern until two candles died in the past few weeks...

OMG, that just happend to my Luminara candle in my room. I was watching a movie and suddenly the candle turned on. The remote control is stored away in a drawer! I honestly thought I had a ghost in my room. I found this thread and seems I'm not alone. Should I be worried?
