I fall in that mid-range area. If I lived in a tiny home, I'd be a minimalist. If I had the decorating talent of someone like @Regal Bee, I'd have a clean -but busier - look to my home. Our homes need to work for us, which is why I can't comprehend hoarders or really messy (actually dirty) housekeepers. That works for no one.

@Mominohio Just be yourself. However, I have to say that over the years I started elminating "stuff." If you have not used or worn something in one year, why do you need it? I can understanfd momentos from family and friends but other things, donate or toss out.![]()

I try to appreciate the other side of it, but it's so alien to me. I am the anti-hoarder. I throw away and donate things that I actually still need, and have on occasion had to repurchase some of them. That's nuts... I know it, but clutter makes me feel trapped, suffocated and anxious.
My husband of 35 years doesn not feel as I do. For years he rented a storage unit because we never had a house large enough to store the things he wanted to keep. He worked in the film industry for decades and he wound up with several pieces of machinery that are potentially valuable. I've tried to explain to him that they aren't worth as much as he spent to store them all these years. To keep the peace, we've agreed to disagree.
He's been unemployed for three years, due to a medical issue, making our finances tighter than ever. For this reason, he emptied his storage unit and brought everything to our garage so he can sort it, sell it, donate it, trash it. Well, due to his disability, this process is going very, very slowly. I'm trying my best to be understanding about it, but I literally dream about throwing everything away. I often think that if he were to pass on before me, I'd call a junk service and have them take it all away. I can just imagine having a reading from the LI Medium and having her say, "He knows you got rid of all his things and he's NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT!"

@house_cat- I am the anti hoarder also. And, like you, too much stuff around can make me feel somewhat anxious and claustrophobic.
I really don’t try to understand anyone else’s position on it. I just accept that we’re all different and all have our comfort levels of how many possessions we want so I really don’t try to analyze anyone else. They do their thing and I do mine.
