Re: Light-filled Dining Area...

Beautiful room and I love it! The chairs are gorgeous, but I do agree they do not look very comforatble!

Re: Light-filled Dining Area...

The table and chairs are not my style but, overall, the room has a very welcoming and homey feel to it.  I particularly love the stone fireplace that (strange but neat) upper window and the wooden slats on the ceiling.I agree the windows need window treatments for sun glare and privacy.

I really like the rustic look of the room.  However, needs curtains to soften the space.  Also I like the chairs, but yes, they look uncomfortable with that straight back.

It's a terrific room, with so much texture to provide interest-- stone hearth, that wonderful warm, wood- planked ceiling, the multi-paned windows.

To me it shows that you can go completely neutral in any area, and still be interesting and eye-catching-- it's how you do it.

@Oznell It's size, texture, a little variety in the neutrals, pattern and scale!

Re: Light-filled Dining Area...

What would you guys think if the ceiling were painted white?

I love that upper window too.

I would probably change the light fixture, as others have indicated.

Very nice room.

I have a couple of chairs like that, that were my parents - I think they are comfortable for what they are - to eat or to work at a desk.  I like them.  very sentimental.  although I think maybe the back slats on mine are straight as opposed to how these are.

This dining room is very welcoming.  I would love to sit there and eat looking out at the scenery.  The contrasts of the stone, woods,  and white walls really speaks to me of comfortable conversation and good food!

@stevieb   I'll bring my own back cushion for my dining chair and won't complain about a thing.  Something warm to drink please. Cat Very Happy

I love this room but with experience, know sunlight will be horrible.

I think a white ceiling would deprive the room of its impact and warmth, and render the neutrals blah.

Re: Light-filled Dining Area...

For a useful, finishing touch, I'd add translucent window shades, perhaps in the color of the rug, that roll up into the top of each window frame.
