I've been longing for my dream laundry room, but it's still just a dream.  I think it is a very overlooked but important area in a home.  When we moved several years ago, I told the Realtor I was looking for my "dream" laundry room, and she looked at me like I was nuts.  All I meant was a nice size, stand-alone  room--not a "closet."  Had to compromise, couldn't find everything on our wish list, so ended up with a laundry closet.  I would have preferred a smaller living room and entry hall and use the square footage for a laundry room, but I guess I'm in the minority.

I notice that few of the remodeling shows ever consider this, they focus on "large bedroom retreats", "large spa bathrooms" and "large gourmet kitchens,"  and still make the laundry rooms quite small.  It must be that most people don't mind tiny laundry areas.

@DottieBlue : I totally agree and understand. Doing laundry is a big deal and totally necessary. A better home should include a room designed for all the laundry needs. Including at least a small sink to deal with stains and other items if you need to dye something a different color. Area to sort and fold clothes, something to hang clothes to dry, ironing or steamer etc= a special dream laundry room. We are in the minority.
