Maybe partly because I swoon at the combo of blue and green, but this snug little living room by designer Mallory Mathison just hit the spot with me!

There's no separate entry or vestibule, so she made a charming console area the "entry".   Love the cane back chairs, rich green lamps, and yellow birds.

She seems to have a weakness for Foo dogs, since there are a couple on the mantle too.

Something about this cozy room-- would be so nice to spend time in on a rainy day, the fire roaring...

Wonder what that pretty blue trim color is-- reminds me of Stratton Blue or something by B. Moore.   Really pops the deep ruby wool rug.   The striped chair was a sophisticated, bold choice-- picks up the black tile on fireplace...

Even the stair hall subtly continues the blue, green and black theme, punctuated by deep red--  love the consistency of that!

Feels to me like a storybook cottage or doll house, one that doesn't need a lot of square footage to pack its punch....

There are edits I'd make, but overall, what a charming and lovely room.

I love this room!  I really like the painting behind the orchid.  I wouldn't have hidden it with the plant.

I like the colors in the room, too.  I've always wanted a pair of Foo dogs.  I don't know why I never bought any.  I love the yellow cockatiels in the entry area, too.

This is happy and appealing to me.

I am not a red person so I would change the color of the rug. Other than that ..I really like it.

Re: LITTLE ATLANTA LIVING ROOM

@NickNack,  you and I like many of the same things.  Years ago I had a modest pair of celadon Foo dogs--  they were cute in a "fierce" way.  I gave them to a friend when I moved.

Later, I acquired what some people call "Foo Cats".  I don't know if the Chinese would technically designate them so, but they are considered to be in the style of Foo or Fu dogs or dragons.  Funny little porcelain pair.

I hope you are well recovered and feeling great these days!

@Oznell   Yes, I've noticed we like a lot of the same things.  I very much enjoy your home posts.

I would love to see your foo cats.  I just Googled them and nothing came up.  I wonder what they're actually called in China.

Re: LITTLE ATLANTA LIVING ROOM

@NickNack,  although I can't take my own pictures and post them here, I did find several examples of so-called "Foo cats" online, that were identical, or almost identical, to mine.  Mine are exactly like these, except mine have ridges, or a certain "scoring",  in their fur:

I found mine in a local antique store for a song.  I liked their wistful little expressions, and their cheery bright blue glaze.

Like pairs of Staffordshire dogs, you can position them different ways, which is fun.

Some images will pop up, if you google :   bright blue foo cats

Or:   vintage chinese porcelain cat figures

The consensus seems to be that they are 'midcentury', not very old at all.   But I enjoy rotating them in and out of my rooms, esp. in spring and summer....
