Re: LITTLE ATLANTA LIVING ROOM

@Oznell   I love them!  Thank you for finding the pictures.

I do have antique Staffordshire dogs that were my mothers and Staffordshire cats (bought as new) that I love.  I really love your foo cats.  Now I think I'd rather have those than foo dogs.

@Oznell

This may be the first thing you have ever posted of which I am not a fan.  Just don't care for it.  Love the artwork.  Not a fan of the color, the way it was used.  Too saturated and just dreary looking.  I know many think it is sunshiny and beautiful and happy but it is not for me.  She overdid the blue with a green that did not work for me and then she went to red and black & white stripes.  It made me dizzy.

What a charming lovely home!  I love the blue velvet couch with the pleated bottom, the stunning rug, much of the decor, the drapes, the look in the entry way, the wallpaper on the staircase.  The blue color throughout is very appealing as I feel that blue is soothing.  The photo of the cats is stunning and I would love a pair of them!!!!  All in all I get a comfortable peaceful feeling looking at the photos of this home.

I love green and blue combinations, too.  This place doesn't speak to me, but there are some things I like, for example the green door, the powder blue couch, the birds. Maybe it is just the way the light is hitting the cane chair furthest from the front door, but the wood, especially the legs, looks painted in gold and that golden glow looks good with the green seat cushion (and the gold base of the lamp nearest it).  Wondering if the blue walls are wallpapered rather than painted, as they look like they have subtle horizontal heather striations, and vertical seams.

Those little side chairs are indeed gilt, I believe, @QVCisFun .   I've seen very similar vintage side chairs or "ballroom chairs" also in gilt, and they give me a festive feeling.  If you have to sit down next to the door to haul your boots or shoes on, it might as well be a pretty gilt one!

I also think those walls could be papered-- a type of grasscloth?   I like that combined with the smooth mirrored hearth and that dreamy blue trim.

Yes, agree about the gilt chairs.  I agree about the walls.  Perhaps that is what I get that dread feeling about.  There is no texture to the whole look.  It seems flat and dreary.  You are so smart.  If this had a textured effect to the walls, it would change the whole dynamic FOR ME.

Re: LITTLE ATLANTA LIVING ROOM

@Nonametoday,  I missed out on the fact that the walls have a subtle texture!   Sharp-eyed @QVCisFun noticed that there were faint striations, and I do believe it could be grasscloth.

Agreed, if there is wall texture, it might be much more noticeable in person, and you might like it better than initial impression.

But I can fully see why this room might not be your cup of tea.  I also have a "color saturation threshold",  and anything even a little bit darker, brighter or more saturated than these colors would be too much for me.  My threshold level might be just a little bit lower than yours...

Gilt!  Thank you,  @Oznell  .  I like the look.  And thank you also for the term ballroom chairs.  I pulled up images on a search engine for gilt side chairs and gilt ballroom chairs and enjoyed looking at them.

I would change out the rug and the decor on the fireplace mantel, but otherwise a nice room , and very homey!

Re: LITTLE ATLANTA LIVING ROOM

Beautiful home; I love the deep green, the art by the stairs..and the blue cabinet in the living room. I would have to remove the animal print pillows. The rich ruby rug really wakes up the entire room. Thank you for sharing another beautiful room. I used to have a pair of foo dogs but their paws were not lifted correctly so I donated them. Seeing these makes me wish I had kept them. Now, on to foo cats!
