Just turned on Q....Mary Beth did you really ask this question??

[ Edited ]

She was wondering about the origin or Toile......she wondered if it was French?   Just shook my head and changed channel to Andy Griffith re-run!

I just assumed she introduced that question so that it could be explained to viewers who might not know the answer.

I was sitting here drinking a cup of coffee.  I heard it but  I'm pretty sure she knew.  I thought she was just engaging the guest for him to talk about it.

I agree with the others.  MBR probably asked for the sake of the viewers.

I have heard hosts ask questions I know they know the answer to but they are asking for the benefit of the viewers.

@Lipstickdiva I agree as well.  If Mary Beth had just described about the origin of toile herself, someone surely would have started a thread saying if Mary Beth knows so much, why have a vendor there at all.  Sometimes the hosts cannot win for trying.

I agree with @Krimpette

I am sure there are those who do not know about Toile.  QVC is supposedly in millions of households.

Seems like an innocent enough question and converstion by the host/vendor to cause a flip of the channel and a rush to the computer to post.

This is just another "gotcha" and to me, it's just someone looking for a reason to watch good ol' Andy.  Nothing wrong with that, but certainly doesn't in my mind reflect an understanding of the prep most likely done before the vendor and host are on the air.

If I were betting, I'd lay money that MBR not only knew the answer, but she also knew the vendor and she wanted to talk toile -  and she knew that before the segment started.

Re: Just turned on Q....Mary Beth did you really ask this question??

Is it my imagination, or are many people here lately criticizing hosts and vendors for the least little thing that bothers them?  I will readily admit that there are many things that irk me about several of the hosts and vendors and even QVC in general, and I also think that healthy criticism is good.  If many customers complain or want the same thing, that's a great way for the company to find out how to please it customers.  But so many of the complaints I've been seeing in these forums lately seem to be personal attacks and just plain nit-picking about the tiniest of "offenses".  I wonder if these people would speak like they do here in person to the people they are criticizing.  JMO

It's people like that who keep me from doing too much posting.
You can't win on here. Everything is picked apart.
I wish I had that kind of time to worry so much about such trivial stuff!

To be honest, Mary Beth would be the last host I
would criticize for anything. Her, Jill, Carolyn, Pat, Jayne, Katie, Rachael, Sandra, Jennifer, and others I can't think of at the moment are excellent.
They're grounded, calm, informative, well spoken, and don't dwell on personal life or absolute silly behavior.
Some of the new ones are looking promising also.

That's how we roll in the shire..
