Not really. Even though I straighten and pick up several times a day, seems like there is always something out of place. Ours is not a model home, we live here. However, I am never ashamed of the house if someone drops by, it's not that bad.

Re: Is your home most always ""guest ready""?

Ha! Ha! My house wouldn't be ready with half an hour notice for guests. Right now we have boxes everywhere and more to come. We are decorating the tree and made a pile of all the gifts to wrap. Just finished cleaning the dogs ears - before it got dark - we do it outside since he shakes his head a lot.

We have company coming and staying for at least 5 days - so we have to get the house ready. And we have to drive 5 hours to pick up one guest and dog. So I have to prepare some meals ahead of time. I am not allowed to take off work the next two weeks. One day I hope to have my house guest ready.

Downstairs is presentable.Smile Upstairs...not so much.{#emotions_dlg.blushing} LOL...I don't think anyone besides family needs to be upstairs, anyhow. That's our sleeping quarters and it's private. If I'm having invited overnight guests I make sure to freshen up and make sure everything is inviting and ready for them.

I just wanted to add that my beds are always made, and the guest bath is always clean, it's just that I like to give my rooms a "once over" before I have overnight guests. I like to add fresh flowers, hand lotion, etc. before they arrive. It's just the way I am

I never feel it is. However, I have decluttered a lot so housekeeping is easier. Living room, dining room, family room and kitchen are usually excellent. Guest bathroom is in order. Office and bedroom(s) may not always be "perfect." I think a lot of it is just a problem I have with drop-ins and I never feel house looks "good enough."

Nope. It's lived in. If I know guests are coming I'll clean certain places, like the bathroom. But otherwise it's my home and it's my way.

My home gets cleaned once a week. Chances are, with 3 dogs and a cat, if someone comes to visit the day before cleaning, they take their chances. haha

No, I struggle with clutter. I need the Fly Lady I think. In the process of cleaning up for the holiday-ugh. I really think I need to get rid of "stuff". It's hard to look neat with papers and all kinds of junk around.

Always. Of course,it's just me and no pets. However, I'm with Perkup -- there's always coffee and tea, but I don't keep treats around unless it's party time.

My mom was one of those that always had the coffee pot on (she drank it all day long) and always had something homebaked ready or in the freezer, so she could serve something at a moment's notice.

Me, not so much. Most of our guests are soda drinkers, and most of the time we don't have any in the house. We mostly drink water, milk and orange juice. I do have a Keurig, but I don't drink coffee, so never know if what I make is drinkable for others!
