I think the table fits the rustic aspect of  the dining room as far as appearance, but, for comfort I would not want that table at all.

Proportions of the room are off.  It looks more like a "Piazza" than a formal dining room.

The elements of the room are off.  The table/benches don't work with the chairs or sideboard along the wall and the pictures are out of place.

The french doors are off too.  Really need to see what those doors open up to in order to evaluate but that picture doesn't do that room any favors.

I have a picnic style diningroom table but I have cushioned chairs around it.

Do I think the elements work together?  Yes.

Would I make a few changes for myself? Absolutely.

The lone bulb 💡 hanging from the ceiling, is it a statement piece?

What a hodge podge - nothing looks good nor works together.

Seems I’m the odd one here. I think the room absolutely works.  Not that I would want it in my own home, but then that wasn’t the question. 😉

@lolakimono Thank you for making us think.

I like all but the slab of wood (?) as wall art.

It strikes me as too warm in tone and too rich in texture.

I would like to see a dusky purple incorporated somewhere.

I'm all for informal but a picnic table with benches is too rustic and informal for me.  Those benches hurt my b utt and back hurt just looking at them.  The colors, or lack thereof, are bland and boring.  I don't like gray as a decorating color.  That dark wall hanging, the light wood of the table, the bland pictures, and gray buffet are not working for me.  There is no one color or theme that pulls it all together.  JMO.

I think it all works together perfectly.

I don't care for the benches though.  They're so uncomfortable.
