I spilled a bit of laundry detergent on a floor that has carpet, ugh....any ideas on how to clean it up? I took a damp rag to it but I got lots of suds of course, now I don't know what to do except get out my big carpet cleaner and put water in it to pick up the spill.......any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think I would be doing the same thing, getting out the carpet shampooer!! Other than that, I got nothin...

I would have put a clean, dry dish towel over the spill and tried to blot up as much of the liquid detergent as I could, before adding moisture.

I think vinegar is suppose to cut the suds. But, yes, shampooer.

I did this once. I cleaned the carpet and it looked great. Unfortunately, I had only cleaned the top. It kept rising and getting dirty. This happened over and over again as long as we had that carpet. Good luck.

Just call a professional carpet cleaner & do it right the first & only time. Money well spent.

Carpet shampooer will do wonders and OBTW you will have one clean carpet!

Had this happen with floor in car. Put a large container of Dawn behind seat. Part of the seat poked a hold in the container. Didn't realize until several days later when I went to put the non-perishables away. Almost 2 cups of Dawn on the rug.

We pulled the carpet out and saturated with a mixture of fabric softener and water; followed that up with white vinegar, then used the wet dry vac to remove most of the liquid. Did the vinegar again, vacuumed up the liquid.
