Re: I'm really into colonial homes lately

@Mominohio, My very favorite style!  The first two pictures are very formal, and obviously taken in what I would term a mansion.  Later pictures are more doable for the average person.  I am a “history buff” to begin with, and our reproduction colonial home fits the bill for us.  My favorite hobbies have always been from this era. Ours is a comfortable and relaxing place.  Thank you for the pictures!

I'm also fond of colonial styles.  Whether it be Georgian, American, English, or whatever.    If I were rich I'd probably go with Georgian.  Since I am not rich, I have gone with American colonial mixed with some traditional and farmhouse pieces.

What is that horrendous thing hanging above the fire place mantle ?  Hideous and needs to be removed.

I've NEVER been fond of colonial style. It always just looks like elderly folks live there. My parents never even lived in such an old looking home. I live in a cottage on a lake and I totally prefer the light and airy look. Nothing heavy whatsoever. JMO Woman Happy

I'm liking the older looking ones. I have a thing for houses built in the 16 and 1700's. I see lots of then in Massachusetts and the have signs on the outside with the name of the sea captain, cabinet maker, Doctor etc and the date they lived there. So much beauty and character. Not like houses today.

@Mominohio  I can hear Scarlett calling for Rhett on the stairway in the first picture.  I too love colonial homes and here in Mississippi, we have quite a few.  Thanks for sharing.
