I was having this conversation with my mom today. When we started to build she was really worried about having to much space to clean. Our new house is 400 square feet bigger on the main level then our old house. We were laughing because of the open concept and less rooms it takes no time to clean. With all the main living area being hard floors a quick sweep every couple days and a occasional mop with warm water does the trick. It takes her less then a hour to clean. She wasn’t expecting that.

I do mine in stages. Monday always the first floor, takes about two hours. I do the second floor whenever I can fit it in during the week. This is not a deep clean. Vacuum, dust, wash kitchen floor and straighten up the pantry.

4 hours, if I do everything at once.  5 bedrooms (one now an office/multi-purpose room) 3 baths (one only used when I have guests). 

I tend to break up the cleaning chores and do different things on different days, unless I'm having houseguests.  Then I do the whole 4 hour cleaning all at once.

@ccassaday.  Maybe you should get your mom a Roomba for Mothers Day.  They would be perfect in a big, wide-open space like your home has.

She had been talking of wanting one. But they went out and got a shark rocket. It does a great job. To tell you the truth if she didn’t even have to sweep she wouldn’t know what to do with herself. Lol.

It would take her hours to clean the old house. It had four bedrooms upstairs. She kind of did it in stages also. But now we have a bedroom on each end, a den, then the middle is all open. Once the basement gets done there will be a little more to clean.

I never get everything done....it is always a work in progress....some days I will attack the dust....some days I will attack the piles....the  “stuff”  .....I probably Spend  a total of three hours a day cleaning in general.... EVERYDAY.

I'll let you know as soon as I'm finished.  It never seems to end.

I actually do it in stages.  Kitchen, dining room, family room, living room takes about 2 hours.  Next day bedrooms and bathroom about and 1.5 hours.  I just can't do it all in one day anymore.  Well I could but I don't want to.

My mom is very much a neat freak. Everything needs to be put back in its place. So there is never usually a lot to put away. She is always getting on my dad about not putting stuff back when he is done.
