Re: How long did it take to close on your house?

Yes, we got a loan. Our Real Estate Agent was "friends" with the Loan Officer at the bank next door to her real estate office. And I don't know where the Home Inspector came from - he had to be another "friend" of hers because he did not find any fault with the home. We did - after we moved in.

My parents house - I hired a guy to paint and do some light maintenance on my parents house before I put it on the market. The guy I hired checked out their house and really liked everything about it. He decided to buy it and rent it out. He never dealt with real estate before and decided to start with my parents house.

Re: How long did it take to close on your house?

So by looking at the responses it looks like 30 days is pretty common. Hopefully the person that puts in a offer will be ready to close as quickly as possible. Hopefully we might get a couple and be choosy on which one we pick. We would defintly take less if that means a quicker close. I can live with 30 days. But 60 days is unacceptable. I am sure we wouldn't accept one like that if they needed that long. Hopefully we will have a couple offers and can be picky. We have no idea where we will move. My dad said he will start looking as soon as the house is sold. The important thing is to get closed as soon as possible.

Re: How long did it take to close on your house?l

My DD just bought a condo and it was suppose to be 35days. She got inspection & found a few things seller had to do. The condo was empty so no problem with them moving out. I was happy for 35day closing so she could box up but then she got a call moving it up a week. Ok fine, then another call moving it up another week. Everything was happening so fast &  she got local movers from her apt to condo but it was Memorial Day Weekend, she was very lucky that someone cancelled for that Friday or they told her she would have to wait 2 weeks because they were so booked up. Dh & I are retired but whew!!! We helped her box up & just too much too fast.  This was last month.

That's pretty quick. We are ready to just get up and move. Everything except day to day stuff and our furniture is in storage in my sisters garage. It defintly won't be us delaying a quick close. It's going to be the buyers lender and if they can close that fast.

Under 30 days. We sold it by word of mouth with no real estate agent. The buyers had the full amount in cash.

Thanks everyone for your input. I am confident it will be done in 30 days or less. I doubt in this price range it will be a cash offer though. We should be close to finishing our own house up this weekend.  My dad says we will have it on the market before July 8th. Hopefully it won't be to long after it is sold and the builder will start digging the basement. It will feel great if it is started before the end of July.
