Re: How Often To Wash Bath Towels

We, just the two of us, use bath sheets twice before they are changed out, wash cloths are used once.  Hand towels are changed everyday in the first floor powder room and every two days in the master bath.

Kitchen towels are changed everyday...sometimes twice a day.  Everything is hung to dry, then put in the hamper.  I do my laundry when the hamper is full...usually every 10 to 14 days.

Towels from swimming are used for one day only.  We swim almost every day in the summer.  I wash a ton of towels in the summer time.  I own a lot of beach towels and  I have been known to do two loads of beach towels for one day.  Often a certain someone (not me) in my family uses a couple of beach towels in one day because he likes a dry towel each time.

A  new washcloth and towel is used for every shower.  Used only once.  Common sense to me, but was also instructed by my surgeon that washcloths/towels should only be used once.

Even tho you are clean after your shower, our skin is full of dead skin cells that get on our towels when drying and wet towels hung to dry are not sanitary, the dampness causes fungi and bacteria from our skin to grow on the towels.  I cannot imagine taking a used towel and using it again and I am not a germaphobe by any means.

So I do hang all wet towels to dry and when dry collect them and wash once or twice a week depending on how many there are.  Same for kitchen towels, one per use.  Washing towels is one of the easier household chores.

Pop in the washer, toss in the dryer and they can stay there until you next need the dryer or when you feel like taking them out.  No worries about wrinkling, they are just towels.

Once a week.  I don't live in a humid environment.  After I hang my wet, but clean, bath towel, it dries quickly.  And is still clean.

I  use bath towels and wash cloths once, hand towels daily use.
Towels and sheets are washed once a week. Kitchen towels are fresh daily-perhaps more.

I have solid colored sets and my husband gets coordinating striped sets. The washcloths and hand towels are used once, but since we're clean after baths and showers, they are hung up to dry and reused.

Re: How Often To Wash Bath Towels

I wash my towels twice a week. I use 2 towels. One for my face and hair and one for my body.

I don't use dish rags or dishtowels in the kitchen. I keep 2 dishtowels out on display because they're cute and I rotate those, but I hardly ever use them.  Can't remember the last time I used one. And I don't own any dishrags.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

I so laundry once a week and use fresh towels every 3 days or so---I only have white towels and bleach them in hot water and dry with no fabric softener---its only me now too, but when I had kids laundry was a few times a week---so that sounds about right.

Re: How Often To Wash Bath Towels

For this one-person household, sheets and towels and kitchen linens are washed once a week. Towels and kitchen linens will be changed out every few days, but they are laundered weekly.

What do you use in the kitchen?  I try different things all the time and can't settle on what is best.
