Taking soooooooo long. Began end of May and kitchen was supposed to be done in 10 days, which it is except for painting second coat on walls. Bath up and down still incomplete which was only supposed to take 5 days. Waiting for correct toilet to be replaced in upstairs bath, and mirror/towelbar/TP holder in the down and painting of walls up the staircase because they scratched the walls when bringing cabinet upstairs. So the painting is holding up new carpet on the stairs and hallway and then the landing needs to be done. We've been waiting for new kitchen table which came today. We ordered that in August but it's absolutely beautiful and perfect. It was made in Canada and to order so it took a while.
Now I need to find an area rug. Onward .... I hope it's completely done by Thanksgiving.

@rms1954 Home renovations always seem to take so much longer than the contractor says it will! I added a sunroom off my kitchen that was supposed to take 3-4 weeks according to the contractor once the permits were established - & instead it took 4 months! Your table looks like a real quality piece of furniture. I hope you enjoy many meals on it!

It's definitely frustrating, especially if they take away your kitchen and/or bathroom.
I did mine in November and December and it was really rainy and humid the weeks they were trying to do drywall repair and paint. It was slowing things down a lot (and making a mess of my window frames as the condensation was causing the paint to run).
We kept turning the heat on to help with drying.
The decorating is the fun part.

Home renovations always take much longer than a contractor says. If they say 3 weeks, I automatically attached another 1 or 2 weeks. Plus, there are always extra's that pop up. Always costs more than what you expected. My husband and I will be doing our first home renovation on our own. Well, it's really just an update to our powder room. Contractors wanted $1900 just for labor and that labor didn't include vanity install and the countertop for it. I'll be doing the painting and my husband will install the materials. Wish us luck! Fingers crossed!
