I have a Dyson and Shark and use them often. They're pretty good, but I do like to get out the corded Dyson for the carpets a few times a week.  I only have two carpeted rooms and the rest have wood floors.  Come to think of it, I like all of these vacuums.  My corded Dyson is about fifteen years old and the other about ten.  Both still work great.  The corded had to be taken in for service just once.  The Shark is relatively new and yes, that's very good too.

I swear by Dyson. I have GSD's and nothing picks up dog hair like a Dyson. The suction is always at full power regardless of how full the tank is. They're an investment but mine have lasted for many years.

@BalletBabe --I bought a Shark from HSN late last year--it has the hand vac stick you can detach and use separately but it is hard to hold , kind of thick in diameter and a little heavy.---have to say--it isn't the best for carpets  to really get deep down, maybe for a fast pick up--but it is cordless but it last maybe for 1 quick sweep on the hard floors and area rugs,  before it loses juice---I also have a corded Shark vac that REALLY gets down and dirty with the carpets--would I buy the cordless again---No I wouldn't.

Does anyone here have a cordless Vac??  If so does it pick up as well as a Corded vac?  I like the idea of no cord but don't want to lose suction?  Appreciate any tips.

Dyson v11

that thing is amazing

I have an Air RAM cordless from Bissell. It's great! Been working beautifully for a couple of years! It boasts "fade-free suction across carpets, hard floors & area rugs."

@BalletBabe I have a Bissell cordless vac, and really like it! I have a Lab mix that sheds so much he should be bald, and the Bissell picks up his fur beautifully, along with dirt, cat hair and litter. I'm not sure what model it is. It also converts to a hand vac and has a couple of attachments--crevice tool and a brush.

The only downside is the length of a charge, it's only about 30 minutes. I solved that by dividing my house into zones, and vacuuming each on a different day...and you could probably do one zone in the morning and one in the afternoon, if you wanted, it charges pretty quickly.

I'm willing to put up with the short run time, though, because corded vacs are such a pain to me!

@vermint  Thank You!  I am looking at a Shark. It is 400.00 so that is a big decision.  It comes with 2 batteries and has a run time of 120 min.

We have a Dyson V11 and we have a Cordless Shark, though I like the Shark because it is lighter weight I prefer the Dyson because it outcleans the shark on my carpeting. We have 4 cordless Dysons, one on each level of the house (one was in our motorhome that we no longer have). We have 13 cats so they get a work out! My favorite Dyson is the Omni-glide for hard floors, it's used a few times each day.

I have a Shark Freestyle Navigator I purchased here but no longer available on this site.  I did find it at Bed Bath and Beyond I liked it so much that I recently bought a second one.  Everything as mentioned here is great.  It does have a 20 minute run time.  Also Amazon has it at lower price.  Free s&h on both sites.

@Bonkers1    I am actually looking at a Shark that was 499 but it is down to 399 right now.  It has good reviews and comes with a 2nd battery which looks great.  Thanks for replying!

We have had a cordless Dyaon for years and love it.  We are two seniors with a kitty and spend much time in the kitchen and family room, as well as our three-season porch in the warmer weather.

Even though the time is rather short for vacuum time, you can move through your task very quickly.  I will never buy a corded vacuum again.  And our Dyson does a great job.

@PamfromCT   Thank You !

I bought the Hoover Linx.

Must admit I am impressed with it. The battery lasts through all I want to clean. And I find I still have plenty of charge later when I use it.

And it does a good job cleaning up. I am so pleased that I bought it. Several vacuums have come and gone since I bought it. But the Hoover Linx is still going strong,

PS - I bought it because we babysat a collie for a year, that shed quite a bit. So I could just take out the vacuum and clean up any hair. Then we got another collie and it continued to do an excellent job. The battery lasted for about 2 weeks with daily use.

@drizzellla  Thank You.  I have a Jack Russell and he sheds like crazy.  He is just so cute!  LOL
