Re: Harmonious Open Living Space

I like the look of an open floor plan, but not sure how I would feel about living in one. I do like the light and airy feel of the home the OP posted. Living in a northern state where it's quite gray for several months, it's so appealing to see a lot of light streaming thru windows. Very calming to me.

@stevieb  Thanks....It's good to be back.

Usually I'm not into open concepts that are open to a kitchen but I did like the open and airiness of this one and found it to be a little different.

I'm not a fan, either, but I do think this is quite lovely, @jubilant

I like the open space; big NO to the barnwood.   Not my style.

I have the open concept, so I love it. I don't like the ceiling, but I do like the wrap around lights. I guess they would have to go if the ceiling goes!

Looks very nice - but could never live with an open-concept design. Just the idea gives me "willies."

I must have separate rooms (with walls and doors).

Hate open concept-everytime I see it I think of contractors who saved money by not building walls yet charging more because people like it and think its trendy.

The lights wrapped around the beam is totally atrocious (also trendy right now)! I do like the ceiling treatment and the wood on the island is an interesting cool idea!

But everyone likes different things!

I don't mind the space and layout, but I would need more color. The rug helps, but there's still too much white, tan, and neutral colors for me. I dislike the rustic wood beams on the ceiling and the wood used on the kitchen island. I don't like hanging lights over the table and kitchen island either.

Beautiful space, but I would change the Area Rug, and all of the lighting~!

I love open concept.  I have that now and I don't think I could ever go back to having "walls".  Claustrophobic to me.  It's a more casual way to live which suits me fine.  Lovely picture you posted.  I love the brightness with all the windows.

Re: Harmonious Open Living Space

I love an open concept design but this kitchen/dining room area is not for me.  I'm not a fan of the farmhouse look.  I'd also need upper cabinets.  It looks like there is a lot of storage but I don't want to bend over every single time I needed a plate, etc.
