OMG that is so beautiful. I only dream of crocheting an afghan like yours. I wouldn't donate this to the Goodwill or anything like that. Surely there is a family member that would love to have it or like you said, just keep it for yourself. It is so beautiful who care if the color combo isn't just right!!!

It's funny how you don't hear the word 'afghan' used much nowadays. Everything seems to be a machine made 'throw'.
Your afghan is stunningl. I say keep it, even if it's tucked away in a closet or something. Have a peek at it every now and then, even if just to smile and remind yourself of your beautiful handiwork.
My problem is wedding china from 45 yrs ago....it's taking up valuable storage space but I can't part with it, and nobody in my family wants it. I should use it, but it's a service for 12 and totally overwhelming!

Susan Louise, the afghan is absolutely beautiful. I love all of the colors and the combination of them together. I know there has to be someplace in your home to use it. I know it would look nice in any room of my house.....

Oh my gosh, that's beautiful!!!
I would keep it and use it as a throw.

You might think about donating it to your church for a raffle to benefit the church. Our church did quite well with fund raising by having a raffle. You are correct that you won't get any real return on all your hours invested in creating your piece.

I haven't been on the forums for several days...been busy, so sorry for the delay in posting again. I greatly appreciated everyone's responses and have decided to keep it
Sweetbay magnolia, I graduated in 1977 too!
You mentioned "they are cherished and meant to be used"...
Like you and others have suggested, whether or not the afghan matches the decor, I will find someplace to display and use it!
It is beautiful, SL. I'm so glad that you will keep it and try to find some way to display or use it.

That is beautiful and a pattern my mother used to make. I'm agreeing with giving it to a nursing home resident. They tend to be cold natured and would love the colors.
Raffling it might also be a good idea.
Or just keep it and enjoy it like it is.
P.S. There's a lot of work in that afghan.
