Re: Halloween decorations? Scary, cute or just fall themed?

I have a mixture but definitely more Fall than Halloween.  My front porch has a few plain pumpkins, mums and lanterns and I have a fall wreath on my front door.

Inside my only "Halloween" pieces are the ghost cookie jar from Temptations and I have a black cat cookie jar from David's Cookies.  Everything else is Fall and will stay out until I decorate for Christmas.

Re: Halloween decorations? Scary, cute or just fall themed?

I used to get into Halloween; I knew all the neighborhood kids and loved when the little ones would come by. We would decorate the front porch with ghosts made out of bedsheets and had a coffin one year that we'd open via a rope from the second floor. The last time I decorated with anything scary, a little neighbor threw her candy bag at the ghost who came down out of a second story window and ran away crying. Halloween, in my view, is for the little ones, not the ones taller and bigger than me. I just don't care for the gory decorating but I know lots of younger people who love it. To each their own.

The only Halloween decoration we have is a jack-o-lantern that lights up. He sits on a small table & looks out our front window. Every year parents of young children who come trick or treating tell us the face is a bit scary.

Re: Halloween decorations? Scary, cute or just fall themed?

I have done fall things in the past outdoors, but never really much, a few pumpkins, mums, corn stalks, hay bales and one year a scarecrow.

I never decorated for Halloween inside or out. We have lived rural for 26 years, never get trick or treaters, and I don't even get out any fall outdoor decor many years now, depending on what is going on in life and how I'm feeling.

I have always loved that people go all out for the kiddos, with the scary decor. It's fun and kids enjoy it, and I enjoy it too. I just never had the desire to do it myself.

Re: Halloween decorations? Scary, cute or just fall themed?

I put a fall wreath on my front door around the beginning of October that stays up until the day after Thanksgiving when I put up the Christmas decorations.  Other Halloween decorations include pumpkins, an inflatable cute ghost and other cute things, nothing scary.  I usually carve one pumpkin on Halloween day and light it that night.

I decorate for Fall on the first week in Sept.  Two weeks before Halloween, I put out some vintage Gurley candles from my childhood, with a couple of cute Halloween cards sent years  ago by my parents.  Same for Thanksgiving.  A couple of weeks prior, I put out a few Gurley candles and 2 vintage honey comb turkeys that always sat on mom's buffet.  Warm memories.
