Does anyone have LeafGuard gutters? If so, what do you like them? Supposed to keep leaves and pine straw from going into the gutter and stopping it up. I'm having someone come out to give me an estimate this week. I know they will be hight $$$.

We had a different brand of gutter covers, Waterfall, and found them to be much more trouble than they were worth. They kept leaves out, but the gutters would get clogged with smaller things like maple seeds and pine needles. The covers were a pain to remove and replace every time the gutters needed unclogging. We also had a lot of wasps around the house because they'd make nests under the covers. Glad to be finally rid of them. Not even willing to try another brand.

We have gutter helmet. I don't think they offer it under that name anymore. It does keep the leaves out, but I do not like how it is pitched. Seems during a hard rain, the water runs over the rim and not into the gutter. I would like to have them removed and look for another system, but my husband refuses.
Also we never had winter icicles form on our house before we got them, now we do.

Way over priced and if you listen to their ads they are telling you if they ever clog they will come out and take care of it... meaning they can! They have a system at Costco that looks interesting and very reasonably priced. We have our gutters cleaned out once a year by a professional company and we figure they are so reasonable that it wouldn't pay us to install Leaf Guard. We can use this company for years and not add up to the high cost of one of the advertised systems. Be sure you go online and read the customer reviews for them.

We had all new gutters installed a couple of years ago, and agonized over whether to and what kind of guards we should do. We decided against them, as we have so many dirty trees and pines and there is no way that especially the pine needles would be kept out. We just have to get up and clean gutters several times a year.
My mom had some kind of guard put on and it helps, but we still have to clean hers on occasion as well.
This is a hard decision if getting on the roof or ladders to do the job is getting hard or dangerous for one to do, but for now, we chose not to use them.

Thanks for all your input. My son has these gutters and paid a huge amount of money for them. More that I would like to spend. He thought this would be good for me since I'm by myself and can't get on the roof to clean the regular ones. Think I will cancel the appointment and check around for a different kind. I can always hire someone to clean them.

We have a local installer in our area that installs continuous seamless guttering. He has a machine on the back of his truck to make the seamless guttering. We took down the cra~ppy guttering we had & paid them to install ours. We love it because it does not leak at the seams like the other guttering because there are No Seams. We had this done in 2010 & was charged $3.25 per ft plus downspouts. The $3.25 per ft included his labor fee. DH picked up some leaf guards at Lowe's that fit & installed them himself. He did not think we needed them but he got tired of cleaning all the leaves which would clog the guttering. The guttering is the best we have bought & the leaf guards makes DH's life easier. DH hardly ever has to do anything with it. You have to have a leaf guard with holes just the right size so water can flow through but debris cannot get through it.

We've had Leaf Guard gutters for 10 years. We have a rancher, but the back of the house is one full story above grade. And, we have a wooded lot. They have been amazing. I think we paid about $2400 for them, but we have them in the front and the back, and the house is about 50 feet long. Also, included in that price was some other aluminum trim work we had done by the contractor, including replacing the soffits and replacing some trim work around one of our doors.
This is the first year that we had a clog in the back, and there is a large Beech tree that is at that corner of the house. Large leaves and debris stay out of the gutters, but the fine "stuff" that flies around, when the leaves first open in the Spring, will collect on the roof and wash into the gutters.
Over ten years, a clog did develop. I simply called Leaf Guard and they sent someone out within a few days to clear out my gutter. They were very nice and the whole process was simple. No more climbing on ladders for my husband.
If you take into account that fact that we were spending about $100/year for gutter cleaning, and didn't have to have that done for 10 years, that substantially reduces the initial cost. Also, when Leaf Guard comes out to clean a clog, that is free for the life of the gutters, and even transfers to new owners.
I think they are one of the best improvements we have made to our home.

No gutter guards here. We live in the South and have many pine trees on our property. No way would gutter guards or screens be able to keep out all the pine needles and little "pine blooms" that fall onto our roof. Also, we have dormer windows and chimneys, and leaves and pine needles get trapped in the nooks and niches around those. Someone has to go up on the roof to clean around them anyway, so why not just clean the gutters while they're up there? We have the gutter cleaning service come out about 3X/year, and it costs about $100 each time. Well worth it.
