Why do people shred or black out junk mail? I just drop it in the recycling bin as I return from the mailbox. Never even occurred to me to destroy it.

I don't myself. I just toss that into my trash masher. Those people sending it have already passed your address along, not sure who we're hiding from? I do shred credit card offers and important information.
No such thing as a recycle bin here or the last 3 towns I lived in.

If there is a name and address on it I black it out or shred. I never used to but with id theft I'm trying to be more aware about my mail.
