I've been thinking about ordering this and am assuming the ink used is OK for recycled items.  I think it would help me get through my recycling a lot faster but hesitate because of some bad reviews.  Any thoughts from people who already have this item?  TIA

Re: Guard Your ID Roller Set

It has always worked well for me.  I don't know what the problem could possibly be as obliterating print is hardly rocket science.

I've been using them for years. One lasts for several months. Every once in a while there will be a shiny service that doesn't accept the ink. But it's seldom.

I just use a black sharpie on junk mail, envelopes, order forms included in catalogs.

Financial stuff and bills get shredded.

Re: Guard Your ID Roller Set

Not everyone has the option we do, but we burn our sensitive paperwork (live in the country with woods around, and have to burn a lot of downed tree limbs throughout the year, so throw the paperwork in with it).

My mom asked for this for Christmas, but I think it a waste of money (for her or us) because she has both a shredder, and  lives next to us, so burns hers when we do. I just can't see spending the money on it for her, just to turn around and shred and/or burn afterwards.

I use these when i want to do a quick review of the mail and cover mailing labels.  They are great for using on boxes too.  I still use a shredder for financial papers.  I do recommend them and they last quite a while.

I also use a huge black magic marker I got at Walmart.  It's just as effective and easier on bottles and big labels.

@Catty2

I like this product.....it does work on prescription bottles and majority of paper types.  There might be a few glossy papers it doesn't work on--- but these are few and far between.  On most glossy paper it works when you allow it to dry......I get tons of junk mail and it allows me to easily protect my information so I can easily dispose of it...The rollers do last a long time. ...To me shredders are cumbersome, more time consuming to use and noisy....

Do NOT buy the tape kind of this product that style did not work!!!

Re: Guard Your ID Roller Set

I just received this set of 3 this past week because the other stamp I have is almost out of ink.

I like the roller ones, they're really easy, smooth to use.  I do get glossy paper every so often that none of these work on, the ink just wipes right off.  Many pieces of junk mail we shred.  Pieces that do not reflect our name/address goes in the recycle bin.

If a piece of paper/env has our name and/or address on it, it goes in the shredder.  What's funny I f ind are the mailing labels from QVC that I cannot get off of the plastic bags is really what I use these rollers for.  If I can peel off a label to shred it I do - this does include labels on prescription bottles which I am able to peel off.  I'll stick the label to something else that I'm shredding, no problem.
