Would you live in a glass house?

I love the clean lines of glass houses, but I am not sure I would want to live in one. My biggest concern would be privacy. I guess you could install some kind of window coverings. Even if I lived out in the middle of nowhere I would want window coverings. Since my furniture style is not modern my furnishings might look odd in such a modern house.

Here are a few photos from the Internet of glass houses.

These are lovely, but I would need some kind of window covering for at least the bathroom.

I couldn't either.

They look nice from the outside maybe for a conference center.

Exhibitionist dream house.

Love the panel ceilings & the glass ceiling in the 3rd photo.

No thanks! They are nice to look at but can't imagine actually living in one. There is one about 5 miles from us, and while it is very pretty, driving by you can see everything. Imagine at night...I think this house they do have blinds at most of their windows though.

Window treatments would cost a fortune and you would need a window cleaning service to come by often to keep them clean. Nice idea, but not practical unless you are very wealthy.

visually pleasing but then I get all practical

Three things:

I think they're really cool.

I absolutely think you need to furnish the inside to go with the outside.  So if modern furniture isn't your thing, you're SOL.

I imagine window treatments are the motorized kind (complete with remote) that when open are unnoticeable.

A VIEW is necessary.

(I lied; it was FOUR things.)

No, I am not a fan of glass houses.  I enjoy my privacy and my home is where I have it.  I would always be wondering who was looking in if I lived in a glass house even if isolated. Also it is too modern and far from my taste zone.
