Re: GLIMPSE OF MILAN APARTMENT

I'd say late 20's to mid 30's, probably in the fashion world, with a very disposable income.  Many homes in Italy remain in the family for generations.   That's what I assume this is.  I like the fireplace.  The rest is not my taste.

Re: GLIMPSE OF MILAN APARTMENT

I think a lady lives here, one who dresses impeccably. Always wears high end designs. Worked for a big fashion design house. Her pearls are her best friend. The pieces in the room were carefully picked for the uniqueness. The chairs were on a fashion shoot and she couldn't bear to live without them. That's her on the mantle, in Paris her first runway show  she didn't want a big mirror above the fireplace because she knows she always looks gorgeous. She didn't make the home comfy and inviting because she's never there. When she is its business hence the eclectic touches.

Re: GLIMPSE OF MILAN APARTMENT

She has a definite flair for the dramatic, and entertains a LOT of male callers. Many of them never make it past the sitting room, but every now and then...

She dresses in very simple clothes but handmade from luscious fabrics. Her jewelry collection is small but excellent, mostly gifts. People don't dare give her gifts unless they know her very well indeed.

Although her room is filled with lovely things, to tell the truth, she doesn't really care all that much about them. She's more interested in the effect they have on others. Enough that the long windows and high ceilings show off whatever she has. This doesn't mean she's shallow, just that she has decided what's important to her and what's not.

The orchid on the mantel is real, and each exquisite spray lasts weeks. She gets them from a florist in the next block, who has been her admirer for years but would never say so. He looks for the most beautiful things he can find, and when she comes in to his little shop, he offers them to her as if they were made of diamonds, with a small smile he keeps just for her. But he sends her his bill every month.

To the left of the fireplace, just out of the frame, is an art deco bar cart, on which reposes a half dozen different aperitifs, and a half dozen stunning crystal glasses. She does not invite those who want to drink heavily, and as aperitifs are taken before dinner, there is always a good reason to go out after drinking one. Maybe two.

You'd never believe what happened at that flat last night, but that's a different story, and not mine to tell. Anything else you'd like to know?
