Re: First Time Homeowner Gets Space Decorated

I like all of it. Every room is done in a different color but there is a nice inviting flow going on.

Wish it were my first apartment.  I had a mattress on the floor!  LOL

If she likes it, then it's successful.

I find in small spaces less is more.  From personal experience, that set of cabinets that hangs between the kitchen and dining area should go.  Had one in one of my first homes.  The first renovation I made was pulling that down.

I just like the kitchen and the bathroom...the rest doesn't appeal to me.

Re: First Time Homeowner Gets Space Decorated

Well, it's hard to tell if it's her style since we don't know her but my first thought was that he definitely put his style in it.

That to me is the problem sometimes with these designer rooms. They look like designer rooms trying to showcase their style.

And most of them seem "pretentious" (a word my father used when he walked into my sister and bil's house) and too artsy, linear, and cold. Not like a home to live in; just to look at in a magazine. They all start to look like the same designer.

I do like looking at different styles even though I may not like them or want to live in them.

If she said use all my stuff, he did well.  The rooms with all the pictures on the walls are too cluttered for me.

Re: First Time Homeowner Gets Space Decorated

The only room that I really like is the kitchen, and even there I think there needs to be some more "homey" touches....I really don't like those stools.

This place looks like most of the interiors that are shown these days in decorating magazines, even those catagorized as "country".  I don't care for the look, and I can't even say why exactly.

There is the use of a lot of varying colors in one room, nothing seems to really coordinate or go together and  I do realize that "matching" is very out of date, but my eyes seem to cry out for something that looks like it belongs together.

Anyway, I know I must be a dinosaur when it comes to the current decorating style, but I just don't care for it much.

It's beautiful.

I could easily live in it if I was single, but I would have to remove the letters from the wall.  For some reason, that just ruins the look for me.

It's a nice space.  I especially like the kitchen.

The best part of all the rooms is the dog!    I would take him/her in a heartbeat.  The rest not so much.
